Hi Clive! (I thought it was just me who liked Metallica on here!)
I've just heard on the "St Anger" thread that the Metallica boys are doing some UK gigs in December.
Know anything about that?

Nope. never. Friend went to Reading this year. I hate her with a passion. Said iot was fantastic. So this could be my time. If it goes online at GMT+0 then I'll just stay up tonight and try and get best tickets I can.
I know a good cheap hotel in Piccadilly I can book into relativly cheaply for one night and then a train down and back again won't be hard to organise...oooh so exciting.

I saw 'em at Reading 97 (or was it 98?) and then again at the Big Day Out in 98 or 99.
Ruled. Both times. Can't wait to see 'em with Rob. I saw him play with Ozzy at the 97 Ozzfest and man, can he play!

Lucky B'd
well yeah I saw him when Sky broadcast the "Rock AM Ring" I think, it was a european gig. That 'crab-walk' thing he does is creepy. but all of them can play, and (linking back to the askh2g2 discussion) surely that's the point? I mean they can play GOOD songs. I love metallica and there new stuff shows to me they are still being creative and not resting on the laurels.
So knowing how infrequently they tour let alone come to the U.K, I'm definately out for some tickets this time!

Yeah- I saw the Rock AM Ring gig too! (On Sky- I wasn't there, before you get jealous )
Played nothing from Load or ReLoad, did they? Concious decision to go heavier again, d'yathink?
And yeah. They can DEFINITELY play. No-one can take that away from 'em.

Yeah I did notice that. 'One' is a classic. (Darkness imprisoning me, all that I see, absolutle horror, I cannot live, I cannot die, trapped in my self, body my holding cell.') If any criticism I could level against metalica is that the lyrical quality of their songs has certaininly altered if not goen down hill abit . frantic tick tick tick tock is good but I wonder how does it compare wth 'One', above.
Sadly I sorta missed out on their earlier stuff on 'Justice' and 'Kill em all' so I don't know the words from 'blackened' My CD set starts with 'Ride' and 'Puppets' so I'm praying they'll play 'Welcome Home: Sanitarium', since I saw Limp Bizkit slaughter it on the 'MTV legends' progamme - Made me want to see the masters (original and best) do it live.
And they certainly do seem to want to go heavier again. (which is a good thing.) It would probably suit the nay-sayers if they carried on with their new direction but brought back the solos since their absence was notable but I didn't feel detracted from the album overall.
