They *always* make me think and question my views about things. It will be sad day for h2g2 if it becomes like any ten a penny tabloid style chatroom you can find on the internet, that some peole appear to wish it to become. Keep up the good work. It's posters like you that keep me coming back here, even though I come far less often now. It's really quite amusing in some ways how threatened some people are by you!! Oh and Happy St. George's Day tomorrow.

Just had a skim through that thread. To be honest its people like that that fuel my fire. I dont consider them nasty just afraid, they cant answer something or handle their own frustration and anger at not being able to come up with an answer so strop off. Sad really

blicky I've finally started a friends list and you're on it. Please don't stop contributing to TGD thread.

blicky I thought I should come here and tell you I was really cross and hurt by that post you addressed to myself Roy and Della. She has come out with some quite appalling vitriol and nastiness in the last few days and I in no way want to see my name next to hers. If you have a specific issue with what I have said in the context of me as a person, and the posts I make, which are as different as chalk from cheese from Vicky's I like to think, please address them individually to me and not lump me in with her.

You maybe think I'm over-reacting. Maybe I am. But it hurts, because I've always had the highest respect for you and your opinions.

I guess its easy to forget about the side effects when you do something.

Im sorry sometimes my only "weapon" against the likes of Della is to say what's on my mind in a way that I know will annoy them. I "lumped" you together as it looked like it was you three for the most part discussing the "7 reasons" post and contributing the preceeding posts that inspired me to make it.

Im at once charmed, proud and a little modestly shy about the praise you've always heaped on me. I tend to just shoot from the hip and dont think I deserve what you say regarding my posts.

Thank you for all the encouragement and support you have offered in the past though and hopefuly I can pay you back whenever whichever "in group" "clique" individual or assorted barrackers start up with the lets be mean to Fanny because we dont like what she has to say.

I know you have been getting more than a little pissed of with Della and I can see why. When she posted the term of racist abuse to me even though it was modded she wouldnt accept that what she said was an abusive term. Just like with all the bigotteed things she can say on other subjects, it come down to one person having bugger all regard for anyone or anything they dont personally like.

Rest assured that I dont think of you as like Della in anyway.

I don't know what you mean by the '7 reasons' post. In any case generally when I engage in 'debate' with Vicky, there's nearly always an element of tongue in cheek about it. There could hardly be anything else when she debates in such a nonsensical way, quite apart from all the vitriol she now regularly spouts. But no matter.

Thanks for putting my mind at rest. It's funny isn't it, the way people always are quick to be critical of one another. But the moment you start praising someone, you get turned on, like when SWL started calling me your sock puppet, and Vicky speaks about Hoo's cheering section and Hoo towels.

At the risk of embarassing you further, I should explain that the reason I so enjoy your posts is because they are always very intelligent and honest. But not just that, they are always written in a lively and creative style, that I *always* enjoy reading. (the spelling mistakes only seem to add to the charm.) I thought that post you made about a man in the pub, speaking about his beautiful wife, was brilliant. In real life too, I always make a point of telling people when I think highly of them. It's a funny trait of mine, which maybe balances my over critical and impatient attitude with some other people.

I don't always agree with what you are saying, heaven forfend , but you nearly always give me food for thought, and I like that, because there's plenty on h2g2 who never do that.

I saw this earlier, posted by someone called Peckish. I have no idea who is this person is or why they felt it was appropriate to post some gigantic thing here that seemed to be to do with Vicky and the past, empty skyetc etc...... I read the first few lines and then just glazed over. All this stuff bores the knickers off me. It's as clear as day to me that the more attention that woman gets, the worse she is.

This thread is about my friendship with blicky, someone I feel really fond of. For someone to just turn up out of the blue, and post all that stuff which has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, I think is excessively rude.

Needless to say it wasn't me who yikesed as I don't yikes. But it leaves a dirrty taste in the mouth.

I'm now unsubbing. So Peckish feel free to continue whatever it is you feel has to be discussed on this particular thread rather than a new one you could have initiated with blicky.

Here's a story:

Our welfare officer has been being a terriffic pain in the arse on and off for the last few years. Dont get me wrong she fulfills her role fairly well, but man is she partisan.

I got her son some work assistign me on a summer scheme. The company that was employing us stiffed us *both* on the money. Yet she harrassed me for ages and still holds it against me that her son didnt get paid.

\\\\\\\\spin forward two years and she's creating merry hell about the women players being a bit saucy at the toga night we recently held. As her daughter was there (12).

Now Ive explained to her that no one else with children there minded and neither the chairman or his wife god botheres both of them turned a hair at the antics which were more Benny Hill than Bendover.

Yet she still bad mouths them even after I asked her to stop as she was making herself sound like a miserable old boot. Now she wants to join the team, but before she's even set foot on the pitch she's laying down the odds about how I better not pick on her and how the others ought to behave.

For a quiet (real) life I have to be nice and as diplomatic as I can with her.

Vicky I dont have to she is the most difficult person I have Ever come across, but I see her as a scratching post, a training simulator or a thought exercise. If I can get through to her or even in trying develope new strategies then hopefully I'll be better at dealing with that kind of things when it really matters.




I have nothing but admiration for your attempts and Id like to apologise for butting in that time, but I found it too hard to resist.
