Secretly Not Here Any More

Booked another holiday - this time nine of us are off to Devon to kick around a cottage, drink some expensive imported beer (hooray for online Belgian beer shops) and have some sort of BBQ.

Never been to Devon before - anyone know if there's anything we really need to see or do?

Ask Rich, he'll tell you. smiley - smiley

Failing that, read one of his entries. smiley - ok

Good point, I forgot he's from that neck of the woods!

We're taking our resident cricketer with us - might have to see if Rich's team are playing.

Look for the Cavendish cavaliers Group on Facebook; I'm sure there'll be the dates for their next matches.

Poughill, near Crediton. Apparently. According to Google Maps, that's about ten miles from Exeter.

ENTIRELY ON TOPIC! LEAVE ME ALONE!

Number Six

My girlfriend was living in Exeter when I met her. There's some good pubs there by the River Exe, as I recall.

Crediton's very near Zeal Monachorum, which is mentioned in The Referee's Alphabet by Half Man Half Biscuit, but having visited it for that sole reason I can report that there's not a great deal to it once you've taken a photo of yourself by the roadsign.

Your nearest seaside's probably Teignmouth or Dawlish to the south, or Westward Ho! on the Atlantic coast.

It all depends what you're into, really - Dartmoor and Exmoor are well worth a drive over if you like scenery and that.

Cheers 6. Might have a look at the scenery - road signs less so.

Not dead. Back since Friday.

40 mins into the holiday, I'd torn the cartilage in my left knee. Joy!

Did you have to have an OP? Did they sew it or something?

Damn. Missed you, that you came in the busiest week of my year so far, so I may not have been able to meet up with you anyway. Hope you're off the crutches soon...

Sorry for the late replies - been busy with something (see other entry)

Saw my GP - good and bad news.
Good news - Was misdiagnosed, there's no cartilage damage.
Bad news - I've made it worse by not resting it, and a substantial ligament strain is now a minor tear. 6-8 weeks healing time.

I loved it anyway Rich, so I may be back next year! We were set to go see the Cavaliers, but ended up going to see the doctor instead.

Well, I spent Saturday watching the last 5 overs of Winton Cricket Club's game, and they don't even have an amusing name.

Shame they're not called Winton Dale, really. We'd play 'em!
