The problem is that I can see a number of other people who may take those spots. It's an unusually large opening though. Last year I think had only 3 or 4 spaces, but a good estimate would be 1/4 of the total orchestra graduates each year (it's primarily students in grades 9-12).

I'm playing Haydn concerto in G, 1st mvmnt.

New musical stuff-Renee introduced me to Crowded House this weekend, which was quite nice (my family went camping with her family. Remembering what happened last time I saw her, when she and my sister brought cd players and kept telling me to listen to stuff but wouldn't let me use their cd players, I brought mine this time-but no cds-specifically so I could finally hear the stuff E kept talking about)
And will soon be forcibly persuading E to send my a copy of the beatles-for no one score to arrange for quartet. Fun.

Be positive! You'll get in, whether its this year or next. Persist and they'll remember you!

Haydn composes some great stuff for strings. It should sound fantastic!

What are Crowded House like? what sort of Genre? What bands do you like?

Crowded house? I really have no idea. But I like what I've heard. Um, Neil Finn is in it, and they're from New Zealand, and nobody in the states has heard of them, but they're marginally (by a lot) more popular/well known in Britain. There's an EG article about them, and you can ask Renee (U219331) with any other questions.... I'm not sure what genre.

Otherwise, I like the Beatles, a little Nickel Creek, Tafelmusik (period baroque group from ontario) (but they're not really a band). I listen to a lot of classical music. Gilbert and Sullivan, as well.

I have no idea! I can't say that I've listened to enough to make an informed, accurate judgement. Maybe rock? (a bit like the beatles)

composers: um, another bad question.
bach, vivaldi, tchaikowski, shostakovich, BARTOK, haydn
I like others as well (mozart, beethoven, handel) but not as much. And for the most part I don't like Bach's religious music. Nor Handel's. It just annoys me. A bit clarified-some of it I like the sound of, but I don't like the intent. I think music can have an important part in religion, but I don't like it in a concert.
