Native Sovereignty

"What is so hard to understand about inherent Native tribal sovereignties? Although continually defined and redefined in American law, Indian sovereignty enjoys a substantial reality, both de-facto and de-jure, throughout the American landscape. For the tribal nations, the protection of sovereignty is crucial to survival as peoples. It is the basis of the right to self-government, our assets, and of territorial integrity and retained jurisdictions. Supported by the right to distinct tribal cultures, our inherent sovereignty provides the foundation from which to formulate, educate and litigate, that is, to struggle for all possible advantages and opportunities within the surrounding and hugely encompassing American Union."

And what about this?

You know something? I think a lot of grief would be saved if we just did away with the state altogether and let the Christians handle their own affairs in their own communities. That would of course mean they'd have to live in their own communities and leave others to live in theirs, unmolested.

Fat chance right? Because we know that's why the state was invented in the first place. To keep the Christians from cutting each other's and everybody else's throats.

So what does this mean?

That young people will eventually come to theological enlightment whether they like it or not because that's how the games are structured whether they're Christian or not?

Would somebody please explain to me what this is supposed to be?

A flashy, fuzzy, frenetic op/ed commentary on op/ed commentators or what?

Why bother with barter?

Well, with food prices that keep going up and up, without there being any inflation of course, it might make more sense to get the food upfront instead of waiting for your paycheck to devalue, even if you got electronic deposit.

It seems like I recall Germans having to bring wheelbarrows loads of Marks to buy a loaf of bread during the last days of the Weimar Republic. It might have been more prudent under the circumstances to demand the loaf of bread in lieu of wages. It would probably have gone farther.

Which suggests that we might just be experiencing a pattern here, a pattern of disruption calculated to fulfill something on somebody's agenda.

Last week, before anybody knew what had actually happened with the power outtage, members of Congress were promoting a lot of the same old discredited bilge regarding more drilling for oil in wilderness areas, etc., probably under the theory that if you turn off the air conditioning, people will quickly agree to practically anything.

Now when you add the loss of air conditioning to the loss of jobs, loss of security, loss of 401Ks, etc., do you maybe see why I think we might be experiencing a pattern? Just a random one of course and probably no more pertinent to political issues than the drought, but it does seem sort of suspicious when you note that Hitler came to power after little more than 18 months of more or less Nazi inspired economic and political mayhem.

I wonder if live chickens will be legal tender under the new regime?
