What brings me back? That made me think. It looks like my life is at another turning point. Looking back, that is when I have been most active on H2G2.
Whether it is the need to express myself, or a weclome distraction, I will be on here as much as I can. There is so much more to read!
Best Wishes

I hope the turning point is not too painful (I guess you know that if you need to talk this is a place with some great listeners)
Hootoo brings us all different things at different times, but personally I find it certainly brings me what I need when I need it - be that the chance to get stuff off my chest, to avoid something thats bothering me, just to laugh or be silly or as you say to read.
What sort of things do you enjoy doing?

Today is a good day - so no need to vent. My life is governed by simple forces. One of which is a 6 year old boy who loves his trainset, scalextric and playstation.
The internet is my current hobby - it is a shame as I have just lost my ADSL connection.
What lights your lamp out side of h2g2?

Scalextrix and trainsets sounds fun to me! I never quite could get the hang of playstation yet!
I quite enjoy the internet too - but only have a connection when I am at home so its very much a weekend thing for me. My job means I work away form home during the week
Other things I enjoy doing - spending time with friends, reading, films and theatre, crafts such as silk painting, walking and one project which I enjoy but never seem to get time for at all which is rennovating my cottage!
Aparet from playing with your little boy what do you enjoy doing?

I also work away. I am replying on my pda - so a short message
I wonder what it is you do that takes you away. Being away, i like to eat out , visit the cinema, bowl etc. the weekend is dedicated to family life.
in what part of the world is your cottage ?

you can get here from your pda? While I am away I dont have access to post here at at all
What takes me away is a great question! I have a job I love, with a company I enjoy working for. Only challange is the hours are long (it tends to be 12+ a day although I am working on that) and its about a hour and a half from home on a good run. I love where I live and dont want to move so I choose to work away.
How about you - what takes you away (and no the answer is not car or train !!!)? Where is home for you?
Home - tumbledown cottage is in rural south Oxfordshire - lovely little place about 100 people and great community. As I sit here I can look out over fields and I must say there has been a wonderful sunrise this morning - lots of beautiful reds which if you believe the old farmers saying means more bad weather but never mind! There is a deep layer of frost over everything and the hills and trees look wonderful. I will go explore it later. I could not give this up to live full time in a city!

Hi
Work brings me back to the office. This is a good thing. The office is only 30 miles from home. I live in a rural part of Hampshire. It is taking me a while to get used to paying a man to turn up in a lorry to take my sewerage away (EWWWW). Sheep out the back window which is kinda nice as I am half Welsh
Thinking about the pub. Friday lunchtime institution!

Friday lunchtime and the pub - now there is a tradition I miss!
I grew up in Rural Hampshire - again no mains drainage! We had one of those tank things at the bottom of the garden. I also spent 5 years in Cardiff - not many sheep in the city though
What took you from Wales to Hampshire?

The journey to Hampshire!
Born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, I am English. University and work has had me living in Devon, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Surrey and back to Hampshire.
I will probably live in Hampshire from now on. It would be nice to not be the newbie at the local pub all the time.
Which bit of Rural Hampshire did you grow up in?

quite a journey!
I know what you mean about not always wanting to be the new person in the pub!
I grew up between Winchester and Petersfield. Where abouts in Hampshire are you?
Then I went to Cardiff, then Slough and now I live in South Oxfordshire at weekends and Birmingham during the week
My village used to have a great local but it burnt down and we are still waiting for it to be rebuilt!
Apart from finding new pubs what occupies your time in hampshire?
