As clear as, and twice as tasty
I have a hunch we agree, in pronciple, on most if the issues... except one: I am not so pessimistic
>> Peak oil will make that much much worse
>> for those people quickly
Instead, I'm optimistic simply because:
(1) We are all the descendents of survivors/adpaters
(2) I see absolutely no reason to suggest that the engineers and scientists of the whirled are just going to ignore the new opportunities afforded by phenomenal changes in 'supply and demand'; as the price of oil increases, so does the viabity of research and development
YMMV

yummvee?
I'n glad there are people around more optimistic, because that's an incredibly important part of adaptation
Enjoying this very mild winter?

You're obviously in the wrong part of the country, mate
Actually I'm inland at the moment so have missed all the rain and various weather dramas, and just had several weeks of hard frosts and warm sunny days. Before that it was mild. I was in bare feet today

No... not ALL of it
I have heard there's a sports tournament on around here somewhere
And, apparently, E might not equal mc²
D'ya reckon I might have missed something else of importance?

I didn't know about E/mc2 though

Things ain't too bad, thanks!
Daylight Saving always provides a wee 'boost' in the morale dept.
Over the last few days or so, I've been contemplating mid-summer hols... oh yes...
Before then, we have an election... hmmm.... the polls don't paint a pretty picture

Wow! Just skimmed through a few of what looks like a whole host of strange threads on your PS that suggest you are being subjected to something rather weird and unsavoury
Kia kaha!

Indeed... although I have a hunch that, no matter how many fingers, eyes and/or legs are crossed, the NActs are set to romp home

Aren't ACT imploding though? It's been quite delightful watching them screw up royally, even if the Nats do end up winning.
The Greens seem to be doing well, getting good commentary from the media.

Yep... despite selling out, the Greens ARE doing well

Ach, Labour are stupid. Don't know why they still think that undermining their natural coalition partner is a good idea pre-election. Don't they remember the election where they were so close to losing because people got scared and voted Labour instead of Green and thus dropped the left MP numbers
I'm fairly philosophical about what the Greens are doing now. I may not like it but am pragmatic enough to realise it's better than them fading away. Plus it leaves room on the left for something else to arise. Have you been following Mana at all?
