Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear }

I saw a time ago that you added me to your "friends" list. I know that we've passed each other in the Atelier, but I don't think in any other places. But hey, I am always open to a new friend, or aquaintance. My PS pretty much sums up the basics about me ... Feel free to browse it. smiley - smiley

Howdy, Rev Nick! Yes, I've noticed your participation on Lil's Atelier pages. Good of you to drop by my space and leave a note. I've been to your space previously and browsed a bit. Your LiveJournal links don't work so well, unless I 'schmooz' the system to let me in, but even then, your past entries have gone Archived and don't appear. Dang the bad luck.
smiley - erm
I also noticed how you made contact with weirdo07 and hayayfi, ushering them into the Salon. That was kind of you, and they seem to find it a congenial place to start their interactions on HooToo. That's acutually where I started. I've browsed a number of the other on-going threads, yet Lil's Atelier is more 'my speed', mostly because the patrons and matrons seem to be geared toward a certain conversational type. I seem to fit in well, and--honestly--I feel at home whenever I share there.
smiley - cool
It's interesting to note you're from north of our border. I know that doesn't make you an alien; it simply means you have slightly different life experiences based upon the culture in which you live. I'm glad you share some of that with each visit to the Atelier. Your on-going banter helps to set a mood of ease and of reflection.

I was amazed at the sheer number of convos which you join. How do you balance all that? You must have incredible time management skills! What's your secret?

You'd perhaps be surprised to see that our 'culture' isn't very different from south of the border. There ARE any number of folks who feel that to define themselves as Canuck, they have to prove they aren't American. An odd perspective, but hey, we all have 'em, eh? smiley - laugh

Somehow, someway, I occassionally meet new people. With hayayfi, it was a poem that she posted to herself, and I saw it from the <.>INFO</.> page. Through her, I met weirdo07 ... And perhaps by browsing my PS, they found the Atelier. Loads and loads of happenstance. The world is full of weird and wondrous stuff like that, eh?

The couple of journals I had, that pointed to the LiveJournal, had pretty much run their course. And so I just tucked them inside. I have had some bad experiences of unpleasant sorts from here coming to LJ, cussing and tormenting. I didn't want to leave much of that to happen again. For a couple of other late-comers, I have e-mailed the contents though.

And mostly the threads and the chats that you might see are just one to ones with folks I've met, and come to know. And their journals. Which occassionally introduce me to MORE people ... It all just goes on and on ...

Sounds like an exponential progession. Pretty soon, there won't even be 'six degrees of separation' between you and any other humon on the planet!

Sorry to hear the on-line community has run afoul of your good nature. I hope no one took advantage of your personal information in such a way as to endanger or threaten you. Sometimes that happens, according to the news I've seen. Heck, it's bad enough having spammers randomly pick you out of the sea of humanity and fill your inbox with useless crap. I'd hate to think what someone 'with a mission' could do to excise all manner of personal data from the web and then torment someone. Tell me that's not what happened to you.

No, it was nothing like that ... One or two folks have taken a serious dislike to me, and then a few of their friends heard some rather creative stories. Those latter friends thought it their "duty" to hound me for a time. The dust seems to have settled on all of that though.

But as to the degrees of separation ... Hmmmm. I don't think that I can tie in to Kevin Bacon yet, but ... There are very few people that have been around for a year or more, who I don't share a mutual aquaintance with. If you've glanced down my friends lists, I seem to connect nicely with a very disparate bunch of folks. I always have, even in school days.

Look, you couldn't have said or done anything as destructive as Oetzi Oetstaler (or whatever his name was), who single-handedly threw the whole of the Atelier into chaos with his bizarre and antagonistic remarks. Do you recall the incident? It caused quite a furor and a number of people still bear the emotional scars of it. One of our Salonistas was going through a tough time and was almost pushed to the brink because of careless remarks by 'the one who shall not be named'.
smiley - yikes
As I said, you probably don't come anywhere near to that kind of devastating demeanor. I've not seen you act that callously. You've always been a congenial companion here, so those other folks must have been looking for a reason to take up arms against another human. Idiots. Can't we all just get along?
smiley - brave
Anyway, stay close and keep interjecting your wit and wisdom at the Atelier.
smiley - cool

I'm not familiar with any major upsets at Lil's. It may well have been before my arrival. A few folks had encouraged me to visit, but I just never quite got there, until perhaps 7 or 8 months ago. Mind, I have seen some pretty heartless beasts in other areas of h2g2. Some, I just wanna meet so that I can shake a little human decency into them.

The other problems were more of a too-much-familiarity, too closs-too soon, sort of thing. But as I say, the dust has well settled.

In any case, pretty much what you see of me on the threads is what I am. I tried to play a silly character when I first arrived, but I simply can't act that well and that long. smiley - laugh
