So that means you'll move to Cologne then? I remember that it's a nice town, but it's been about 25 years since I last went there - and I didn't try to cycle in Cologne. smiley - biggrin

Naah, though I wouldn't mind if I was living in Germany for a longer time. I was thinking of any big city anywhere in, say, Europe. For the moment I am going every now and then to Cologne, of course, but I don't take the bicycle with me.

You cycle in Frankfurt?

Yes, but where I live is practically a village, even if it's called Frankfurt. I wouldn't want to cycle in the city centre, but there are lost of places where cycling is ok.

Ah well, it stopped too, but now everything is white; it looks gorgeous! And I could still walk back home if I needed.

Much better than city center when everything looks muddy smiley - erm

Yes, it does look gorgeous on lawns and trees, but not on streets and pavements. smiley - yuk

Once everything is coated, you don't know whether there's sidewalks and streets or lawns (trees you can detect, I guess) under it smiley - silly

Or maybe there are more lawns than pavements around here, I mean around the uni in Bielefeld. Hey, I have a view on Teutoburger Wald!

Oh, really? I don't have good recollections of the Teutoburger Wald, it's quite the contrary, really.smiley - sadface

Quite the contrary? smiley - hug I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe we should organise a meet in Bielefeld to make you friends with it again.

Um, on the other side of the uni I think you can see an industry chimney smiley - erm The trick is to avoid having to look at the uni itself actually.

It should be easy if you worked within the uni buildings. smiley - biggrin
Ever heard of Bad Rothenfelde? That's where I went fo rsix weeks when I was a child, my parents and the smiley - doctor where convinced I need to be forcefed to gain weight. smiley - erm
That was the second time they sent me to such a 'Kur', the first time, I was sent to Bad St. Goarshausen on the Rhine. That was horrible, too.

"Take a water cure, son," said the dad
Of an ailing young shepherd. Sad lad,
He consulted his ewes
Over which spa to choose:
"Baden-Baden's a bad 'un," they baaed.

Oooh yes, at least if you don't want to part with your money - there's a Casino in Baden-Baden smiley - drool

Is there? I don't know anything about the place except its name and that it's a favourite spa near the Black Forest.

You could ask TC about it, I think she's been there a few times (in Baden-Baden, no idea about the casino smiley - winkeye).
I believe there's an airport near from where Ryan Air starts. I once saw a report about this on TV.
Have you ever been to Germany, Recumbentman?

Yes but not the Black Forest. I have a brother-in-law in Braunschweig (we will be visiting him around St Patrick's Day) and I've done a trip to Berlin and we drove from Holland down to Regensburg in 1972 and I've cycled near but not through Hamburg . . . mein Deutsch ist schrecklich aber ziemlich schnell . . . comes from singing all that Bach.

Wow - do you know Edward the Bonobo? He has friends not far from where I live, I'm still hoping to meet him one day when he comes visiting them. So if you get a chance to come to frankfurt, I'd be happy to meet up with you. smiley - smiley

Frankfurt? I'd love to! Don't know when, though.

We can tell whence the Hamburger came,
And the Frankfurter — all in the name.
But my search through the map's
Unsuccessful; perhaps
There's no city called Beefburg? A shame.
