I was trolling around for interesting conversations and spotted you on the Daylight Saving Time Web site. I had to write because I saw you live in France, and I am hopelessly in love with France after two visits. My husband and I are talking about retiring there someday. My French has to get better first!
You and I also have a mutual friend in Jazzedupcurry.
A bientot,
Big Red

I mean the Daylight Saving Time *conversation* obviously, not Web site.

Ah, I was wondering what you were referring to
Thanks for your message! I'm glad you like France. So where have you been more precisely those two times then?
Oh, and ere I forget: there's a French-speaking thread at F135249?thread=307549&skip=560&show=20. There hasn't been happening much in it lately; that's a very nice occasion to bring it back to life.
Talk soon....

Hi! Just Paris and Aix-en-Provence, the very same places we're going back to next month (with a side trip to Venice). But we have long term plans to visit Brittany and Normandy.
Whereabout is Reims?

Northeast from Paris, about a hundred miles I'd say (1h30 by train). Don't you drink ? (ah, I believe they don't draw a map of the region on the labels, unlike for some other wines, like burgundy for instance) I'll get to write some entry on Reims, some day.... Just procrastinating.....
Very different places you've visited then, and a fine pick it is, too. Though I've never been to Aix nor to Brittany, I shamefully have to confess .

French wine has me totally baffled because it's named so differently from American, South African, Australian, Chilean, etc. wines. I need to learn a whole new set of names, which I haven't gotten around to yet. When we're there, we just get a pichet (sp?), or when we're in the mood for a bottle, rely on the recommendations of our server.
Once, one kind man tried to ask me questions to find out what we liked so he could give good advice; of course I had no clear idea of what he was asking. When he went away, I told my husband I had no idea what I'd just ordered. But it was good!
In Aix, when you walk through the streets (in June) the breeze smells like lavender and honey.
