Hello Arisztis Lugosi, nice to hear from you. Lord of the Flies is one of my favourite books. I read it a long time ago but if I remember correctly, a stick sharpened at both ends was used to impale a pig's head (Lord of the Flies) into the ground, and when they said that Roger has sharpened both ends of the stick, this is meant to taunt Ralph, to let him know what they plan to do with him when they catch him. Congratulations on your grades, I have had a love of English all my life and fortunately was able to go into teaching it which has given me an enormous satisfaction over the years.
Take care,
dl

thanks dl. my english teacher didnt seem to see it that way... thats what i got out of it, but he obviously didnt. do you think they would have actually put his head on a spike? its ok about spelling my name wrong. no, wait, its only ok it you promise a full pardon for any spelling mistakes, and gramatical errors... well actually its ok anyway.

Hi there! One of the joys of reading literature is that there is no one interpretation, you can come up with your own ideas, that's what I think anyway. I really don't think that teachers should say that this is right or this is wrong as long as the interpretation is coherent. Perhaps the boys would have impaled Ralph's head on the spike or perhaps when it actually came to it they would have thought better about it. After all, how many times have we been in a position to say "I'm going to do such and such a thing" but when it came down to it we backed off. Of course I forgive any spelling or grammatical errors, after all we learn by our mistakes, don't we?

oh, few!
*is suddenly no longer worried about spelling and grammer*
yeah, its quite true, many times people say thry're going to do something and end up not doing it afterall. i like to interperate things in discussions. i find it helps me round my ideas and that other people help me see things that i never would have thought of.
