Gone a bit further tonight. Actually got a lot off my chest, have issues with tea towels, but got that sorted. Went to the corner shop, its quiet but a good place to let off steam.

Thanks for making me feel so welcome! smiley - aliensmile

Well, I love London, and the british too.....

And I actually live in Vitry, in the suburbs, probably similar on many levels to Birmingham's suburbs...

Birmingham's suburbs are very diverse, as I imagine are those of Paris. Having only been here three years I feel I have only scratched the surface.

As an outsider the general opinion is that Paris is a very romantic place; misty, warm and welcoming.

The general, stereotypical image of the North East of England is that of a dull and industrial landscape, full of chemical plants and cobbled streets. This IS the image people have (who have not been there) and it galls me. It's a picture peddled by the tabloids and echoed by the people I work with who genuinely believe it is 'grim up north'. smiley - steam

How wrong can people be?

Oh dear! Have I just shown my achilles heel?

I like Amsterdam and Barcelona as well... and Rouen.

The North East is much more than that...there's the moors, with lots of places to go. There're also shopping things, and the universities [visited Leeds and Birmingham last year...going to Leeds after year out...]
