MadHamish : Off in the real world!

Good I was hoping to add some cheer!

(It's even funnier knowing that my brother is a 6 ft 5 in bear of a fella! He "cuffed" rather than punched the swan! Giggling just remembering!)

smiley - laugh drools and spits on keyboard.

So I have to ask.....what happen to the swan deckers girl?
Did she laugh or cry? Sounds like a typical double date for me, I was always accidently "decking the swan" .

Hi Abbi! No, I haven't seen Alfredo's post about the movie. I'll go look for it. I think his use of English is charming, like when he said he never wants to "meet" lightening.

I agree. I liked his sign off saying too. Cannot recall it.
It is on that same thread.

Talking of movies - has anyone seen Le Diner de Cons? Watched it last night and thought it was excellent but one of those films that was HUGE in France but got quite mediocre reviews in the US and UK. Maybe it's the difference in sense of humour but I thought it was really funny.

ABBI: The swan deckers girlfriend musn't have been too daunted, they got married a while after that! Mind you they have also divorced since, maybe she harboured some hidden resentment about the swan! Maybe, she hired the swan to take my brother out, and because it failed, she ended up having to marry him! Who knows (or dares to dream!)

Yeah Abbi, I'm really into my movies too. I kind of go through phases of watching certain genres and I'm kind of gowing through a Frenchy phase at the moment (been watching Jules et Jim, Amelie, La Haine, Tous Le Matin Du Monde etc again). Saying that though my favourite films are probably The Straight Story, The Servant and Cinema Paradiso. What do you like?

Erm, hello, Sorry I've not been around lately.

I like making my own movies. Much funnier that way- the jokes are all relevant to you.

Actually, there was a problem once. A friend did a cop movie, out in public. In one scene, a bum gets shot. Filled with lead more like. Anyway, they filmed it, then the actor walked home. A little bit later there were several police vans full of armed response units, and witnesses swearing blind. By this time my friend and his co- filmer were bladdered out of their minds, so when the police finally gingerly knocked on the door, fully expecting a hail of bullets, what they got was two rather drunk teenagers, who when asked about some shootings went: "What? Ooooo SH1T!"

LOL!!!

I've always wanted a Super 8. Never really been interested in getting a camcorder but I love the dimensions of Super 8. I remember there was this american guy who filmed his way around the states in the 70s. Filled his entire station wagon with film and they showed it late night on BBC2 or Ch4 for years. Can't remember what it was called but it was beautiful cinematography. I don't even think there was any sound apart from music, no script at all, just one long road movie with some excellent tunes.

Sound familiar to anyone?

smiley - sadface Fraid not.

The outtakes were fairly good for that movie as well. There's this one bit where the character is just walking around in the road. Once he nearly got hit by a fire- engine.

There is something about the quality of film that makes it better than a camcorder. More tactile and therefore real.
I don't remeber the road movie either but it does sound super coolsmiley - biggrin.
You never know they may show it again, but did anyone see the thing on the bbe going around the coast of britain super fast about a year ago? It was odd seeing so many places I know flash past but it was cool!

Yeah I kind of remember that. It was quite cool.

You must be spoiled for independent cinemas in London Tonemonkey. I remeber when I stayed in Edinburgh for years, I was in the cinema at least three times a week at the Cameo or Filmhouse - now I'm lucky if I go once every couple of months. The only cinemas near me are all big multiplexes and I can;t remember the last trully good movie I saw in one of them.

Anyway, off to watch 'Straw Dogs' again before bed...

'night all!

Plenty of them, but they are filled with cliquey film snobs around here. The last film I got to enjoy in one was reservoir dogs but boy was it good!smiley - biggrin I have my own little front room cinema which gives me great pleasure, and I cant wait til tomorrow, I'm hiring the two towers( which was the last great film I saw in a multiplex).
My veiw is that I dont care where I watch films as long as the atmosphere is good, nobody disturbs my pleasure, and most importantly the film is great. Have a stunning time!smiley - biggrin
'night JT
