Hi... you suggested somewhere that you thought R. Rankin was brilliant... so I decided to say 'Hi'...
Hi...
Since I invaded your space I'd best offer you something...

would do nicely!
I'm in the middle of my latest OU assignment, due in tomorrow, EEK!
So a beer and a bit of good old-fashioned displacement is going down a treat!
Think of me as I drive my feeble attempt at environmental economics up the M3...

Get's an for himself... and thinks maybe a for Narapoia...?
I've been thinking of doing an OU course but haven't got much further than just thinking about it... I think I may just do some short courses...
I hope all went/goes well for you
Not sure I know what environmental economics actually *is*...
Go on tell me how much Rankin have you read?
Are you sure you don't want that she's trained in the arts of Dimac..

Sorry bout tardy response - been a bit preoccupied.
trained in Dimac might come in handy - never managed more than a bit of Tai Chi meself. But would it get on with the cats?
Anyway, I've pretty much read all of grand master Rankin's stuff - I tend to get them when they come out in paperback but sometimes I lose track of which I've read and which not! One witty punnish title tends to blend into another, you know.
They're not all masterpieces, and he did go a bit odd at one point but once you're addicted...
Anything with Pooley & O'Malley is brilliant! And Neville the part time barman is one of my all-time favourite literary characters.

np
It may get on too well
I'm currently following the adventure of Cornelius Murphy, I started out on Lazlo Woodbine... it's only now that I fully appreciate why Waiting For Godalming is considered his worst...
He went a bit wierd around the time of Sprouts of Wrath I believe...
My favourite Omally and Pooley is Nostrodamus ate my Hamster...
And I'm certainly addicted... heading over to Ireland for the Sproutlore tenth anniverary do and to talk toot with the Sprout Masser himself [3rd time]He's a great laugh and friendly in person, although I still get a bit shy around him being fully aware that I'm just a fan and not a friend so get on with Sally Rankin a bit better...
Aha! I'm waffling!
I hope that course is going well Have another

Bit of a fan of the original trilogy - somehow deeper (if that doesn't sound too pretentious, or completely inappropriate for the subject matter!) and some of the later ones seem a bit like contract fulfilment without the same level of craft & loving care.
I've not been to one of these dos but I have read reports and he does sound like a great guy.
The course is just about going to schedule (ie the usual couple of weeks behind) but I do like working under pressure!!
Best wishes to the

Not pretensious at all There was period when he had to 'churn them out' due to money woes that a writer will often face, I certainly enjoy all his books but I can empathise with your sentiment...
Working under pressure because that's when you do your best work, kinda person eh?
I'm think the appreciate them

>Working under pressure because that's when you do your best work, kinda person eh?<
Well sort of...more working under pressure because every time I think about doing some work something else seems more interesting/pressing up to the point where I realise I've got to do 5 weeks' reading in 1 week and write the assignment that's due in and based on all the reading I haven't done...
It's always been like this, so I should be used to it by now. But having to drive to Surrey to hand in the last essay is probably something I don't want to repeat.
PS I suppose having a sheep trained in Dimac saves a fortune on sheep dogs?

Unfortunately for me, I can empathise fully that style and conspiring of events...
Saves a fortune of Evil Private Armies for the purpose of World Domination too... but mostly Sheep Dogs yes, Mostly...
