This was a week from hell! Every day was a new problem.
Today i got my new cell phone, a Nokia, and yes, i am very excited about it. It even plays games! I also got a mp3/cd player that i am VERY excited about. Now i can get hours and hours of Srila Prabhupada's lectures for very little money and listen to them crystal clear. The quality is much better than tapes.

This weekend i would like to do some heavy duty relaxing if possible.
My sister is coming down though so who knows if that's going to actually happen (the relaxing part).

My webpage is doing well: www.geocities.com/golokanandadasi. If you look at it, please let me know what you think.

This is going to be a challenging month for me, astrologically speaking. I tend to think August always is. I'm a Libra. In September I traditionally get a huge surge of energy and tend to way overwork myself during the first half of the month. But August is like the bottom of the barrel for me.
Another somewhat depressing day. It's been a depressing week. I keep blaming it on my liver (which apparently is messed up somewhat) but maybe it's just everything.
The end of the month will be Janmastami, which is Krsna's birthday. I am taking off some time from work to go up and be at the temple. Last year Janmastami was very hard on me with fasting and very intense heat. I remember being sick. I think this year will be better. And this bad month will be over.
I need to write some letters to other devotees asking for some advice in preaching work, so I will close this for now.

August 1

Today wasn't a very good day. For some reason it seemed like everyone was on edge. Including me. Was there some sort of disruption in the cosmos? A conjunction or something? I am going to research this later on.

Apart from that it's hot as forty hells out, so we say All Glories To Central Air.

This weekend I am going to an Arangetram. This is a debut dance for girls (or guys I suppose) who study Bharat Natyam, or Indian dancing. The girl who's dancing is a friend of mine and she is VERY good. I have never been to one before so I am very looking forward to it. My husband might even go. Afterwards, I (or possibly we) are going to the temple.

The nearest temple to us is 160 miles (about 300km). I only go once a month or so because it is so far away, but I wish we lived next door. My ambition in life is to pay off all our debts, then sell the house and buy four or five acres within walking distance of the temple, and have a little house with a cow.

I'm hoping we can do it in five years or so. Living in a mixed marriage (from a religious standpoint) is interesting. We were different faiths when we met; well, really I wasn't any practicing faith then, but he was raised Methodist and I Catholic and I had left the Catholic church 4 years earlier. I have finally settled into Vaisnavism now for about two years, and it does pose some challenges, especially because we don't live in an area where there are ANY and I do mean ANY other devotees. I am literally the only one. So it's hard, trying to learn and to practice. But I am at least trying to perservere myself, and hopefully some other devotees will come along henceforth.

Enough for one day. I want to go look around.
