9/11

Strange and mixed-up is my reaction to the anniversary. Whether we like it or nor we're in a relationship with The States and all the hallmarks of a relationship going wrong are there. It's a variation of the 'my wife doesn't understand me line'. I used to be quite anti-American, I supported the Vietnamese as a kid, but after I went to the States my feelings changed to ones of envy, admiration and a fair amount of repulsion. 9/11 was an evil outrage and only a headcase would see anything good in it. But surely Americans must see something other than jealousy in some peoples support for it? If I lived in a shanty town in the third world I'd hate America too. But that Indian book title sums it all up: Americans go home-and take me with you.

Holiday

I'm a holiday leper. I'm virtually banned from going abroad because of you know what. Mind you, I was supposed to be in Prague this week. I still hope I get there. Even with all the flood water it still looked beautiful. Must, must, must get to Barcelona. As it is am going to Cornwall in September. You watch, they'll connect with my kharma and send a hurricane to say hello. Does it play snooker?
The trouble with going somewhere good is, you want to go back and it just makes your list longer!
There are so many things I want to do and yet I've done so much. If I was a woman people would say I'm suffering from babylust!

Women in the Office

I'm cracking. I know I am. I'm the only bloke in the office and I'm surrounded by women who talk incessantly. The worst of them all is their boss. There are three types of monologue(I won't grace it with the word conversation).
Number one: You won't believe how ill I am. The doctors are amazed..it will be painful...but you just get on with it.
Number two: My family/friends/husband what a complete waste of time...I told that f***** bitch...well if you think..well you can...
Number three; I'm the only one who keeps this place going..that f****** useless **** is ****. I don't know why I ******** put up with...
I had to move into this room because of a space problem. God help me I thought I would enjoy it!
If any passing soul is reading this, we are losing one and a half million pounds a day. RIP.

Lennon

One of my first TV memories is of John Lennon and Yoko on the Simon Dee Show. I'm not sure if he was spaced or barking at the time but he and Yoko came out for the interview with brown bags on their heads. They'd cut little slits for the eyes and mouth and conducted the whole interview with them on. They looked like the KKK dressed by McDonalds!
As usual it 'was a statement'. John reckoned we should all dress like this as then we would all have to judge each other by what was in our hearts and not how we looked. Mind you, its the best I've ever seen Yoko!
Seriously I can see his point, but John was out on his own here. Radio was still big and I always had a mental picture of the DJ's. Always shocked when I saw them on the telly. I thought Ed Stewart would be an old man with grey hair!
I must confess I do sometimes build mental pictures of people on this site!

Mischief

Just perusing the site you can't help but notice 'oddball man in search of girlfriend' syndrome. If someone wanted to test this idea they could log-on in a new idea and leave a few details. Most importantly that they are female, maybe a few alluring details, add a bit of mystery(make them from a poor place like Eastern Europe to add a touch of desperation) and wait to see if anyone turns up....
