It was a hell of a buzz singing that song. I'll never capture the depths of Nick Cave, but it's a lot of fun trying. Most of Murder Ballads is great for that too, particularly The Curse Of Millhaven.

I don't think my player's HD compatible, but I suppose I will survive. I don't have an HDTV anyway (yet). Dammit.
Joy Division I like quite a bit, and New Order's earlier stuff before they got all disco-y. None of that "Blue Monday" nonsense.

I don't think I'm familiar with HMHB. I don't think we have any at home (but that database is far from complete and K files/organizes like Edward does ). Must check them over the weekend, if possible.
I have to say I enjoyed envisioning Edward in his kitchen, wearing a black apron and chrome oven mitts.

You are so familiar with HMHB. I distinctly remember burning Trumpton Riots on a compilation for you. Not that you'll have understood a word of it,,,

Ah! I will give that compilation another listen- maybe I'll bring it to work with me tomorrow.

You'll need to do some research, then. Otherwise you'll not understand line like "We've had Cant conformism since 1964" or "Windy Miller's corn-grinding Syndicalists"

I have a few more suggestions:
Eat The Rich
Ganja & Hess
Get Crazy
Good Bye Lenin!
Grand Slam
Union City
You're Gonna Miss Me (Roky Erickson/13th Floor Elevators documentary)
Zero de Conduite
If any of these appeal, I'm sure I can help fill in the appropriate gap.

K would like to make a recommendation as well. "Zardoz"
It's not part of the personal collection, and I'm not entirely sure I'm sorry for that.

You mean this guy? http://www.utc.fr/~macret/cine/realisateurs/boorman/photos/zardoz6.jpg
"The name'sh Bond... Good Behaviour Bond."
Raise a glass to Jung. Last night my best mate Si called to tell me (with far too little notice, but at least he did bother to tell me) that the current incarnation of the band had a gig last night. At the aforementioned venue.
Eat The Rich sounds great.. Robbie Coltrane and Kathy Burke are ace.

I was called Windy Miller at school... more literally accurate these days. Thanks for the EG entry Ed - I'd been looking for the title of "Paintball's Coming Home" for ages, hearing it on Peel years ago.

East of Eden?
Young Frankenstein
Zelig?
Yep, that's the Zardoz. I'm not sure whether it's so bad it's brilliant, or so bad it's awful.

I should probably get Zabriskie Point... I remember you saying you didn't like Eternal Sunshine.

Watched it a couple more times recently, and it grew on me.
I'm hoping to find a rental copy of Zabriskie Point one of these days- haven't seen it in a long time.

I read the articles in those last two links, Ed (will have to wait for the YouTube till later) and I *still* don't think I understand... though the show looks like it would've been a hoot as a kid.
I'm correct, we do not own any HMHB (other than what Ed included in the comp he sent me), so further research will be in order. K just sorted of grunted when I asked about them, so it'll probably have to wait till tomorrow night.
