Welcome

A green dragon I am Anwaith the Farwanderer, Lord of the House of the Black Phoenix1 and Shadowlord2

Who am I

In life, I am a 6 foot broad-shouldered bear of a man, in my very late twenties. I would like to think that I am an artist, but I am not. I would like to think that I am a poet, but alas, that too is not true. I am an aging ex-romantic and proud father and husband.

I have been told that I have a shapeshifter's soul (fitting for a Gemini), and old eyes. This suits me, but let me tell you, shapeshifting can be very painful for the untrained.

I am the bumbling old wizard who is more than he seems. I am the sprite that caused the wind at your back. I am the storyteller by the fire. I am the barkeep to whom you pour your heart. I am the gentle healer and I am the raging Bear.

I am also Sir Anwaith of the Hereditary Order of Light Dwarven Paladins3.

My name

Anwaith in Elvish translates as "an-" is Gift, and "-waith" is the people, which translates into Greek, I believe, as Nicholas, which my mother and father spelled Nickolas. And that is me. For those better schooled in the Languages of Tolkien, forgive me. The translation of my name was a schoolboy's project using the limited resources in the back of the Silmarillion.

My interests and goals

Swords One day I hope to be a competent fighter both with the hand and with a number of weapons: Short leaf-blade swords, Large swords, Woodsman's ax, Sledge, or hammer, and English longbow. Therefore, I flirt with the study of Martial arts. I also take pleasure in the making of chainmaille (the -le is to distinguish from the chain letter variety).

I have an interest in Philosophy, particularly the German Idealists and one Philosopher by the name Alfred North Whitehead4. I one day hope to finish writing a primer to his philosophy.

In addition, later this year, I shall purchase land for the building of a retreat center5. It will start as a Bed and Breakfast in the southwest Mountains of Colorado. I hope to convince the Tolkien Society to allow me to house their archives. I plan to make the world a better place, by designing a refuge from the world where people can look at their lives with eyes unclouded.

Things I am a member of, or Things of which I am Fond

The Southwestern US Researchers Group which is having a meet-up in Denver in March.

My Non-H2G2 Home Page which is all about me and mine, needs updating.

1 My title as member of the ScW, see below.2 The Shadowlords are the founders of the Shadow commonWealth (ScW), which is a nearly defunct association of my peers. The goal of the ScW was to expand preception and allow/force people to see things from a difference point of view. The name Shadowlord is derived from the concept of Night (being a time when perceptions change) as the shadow of the Earth. The Shadowlords are at home in and have some power within the shadow of the Earth, or Night. A full guide entry is expected. 3The Hereditary Order fo Light Dwarven Paladins is a circle of Peers whom display the ideals of Knighthood and take their names from the fantasy stories which the members create, such as interactive fiction or role-playing.4 Also the co-author of Pricipia Mathematica. Again, a guide entry is in the works.5 More on this topic later.
