Hi there!
I was thinking up a few changes to my snooker entry when all of a sudden it got picked and I forgot what they were.
Here's one, though:
"The penalty for this is four points, the value of the ball being aimed for, or the value of the ball contacted/potted/knocked off the table, whichever is higher,"
This is plainly all nonsense, and should be changed to:
"The penalty for this is four points, the value of the object ball, or the value of the ball contacted/potted/knocked off the table, whichever is highest,"

Thank you.
This is timely, as I am just rolling up my sleeves for this one now, and find your note. I will incorporate this correction before I dot another i.
cheers

OK...some more for you.
1) Under the list of foul shots, can you add:
"A shot is played when all the remaining balls are not at rest on the tableThis foul incurs a four point penalty, regardless of the object ball.."
2) Under the waffle about the 'miss' rule, you might want to add a bit about this year's vogue rule. Something like:
"If a ball that is not fully snookered (hidden behind one or more other balls) is 'missed' three times in succession, then the player shall forfeit the frame"
3) Having just said that, it might be a good idea to put in somewhere that a single game of snooker is known as a 'frame', and a 'match' is the best of however-many frames.
4) Check that the link to Bill Werbeniuk is linked to the recommended entry, and not the original.
Thanks a lot - you're doing a grand job.

Now I have a question for you, with regard to the following sentence:
The original bad boy of snooker, Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins was a near legend, in that no-one could work out how he could convince play such precise, fiery pots consistently with such an apparently haphazard approach to the game.
Do you mean "convincingly play" or is there an idiom that I have missed?
The work goes on,
Cheers,

Good question - I'm not sure what I meant.
I think I was actually going for 'consistently play' and got distracted.
There is still one or two minor quibbles with the 'Fouls' section, but it'd take a real pedant to pick them out, so I think I should leave it be.

Thanks for subbing this - you must've done a damn fine job, because my original was full of mistakes.
