How come?
It wasn't *bad* as such, but it could have been *so* much better.

I don't know, I haven't put my finger on it yet. I was just not engaged with it at any point, really. I'll need to re-watch it to pin down my feelings, I think.

I think I know what you mean.
For me it was another case of the hype being too much.
It was a good enough story, it was pretty well played out. But it just wasn't 50th Anniversary Special quality.
Oh, and it didn't have Paul McGann in it enough.

Vip Posted Nov 24, 2013
YES! Not nearly enough Paul McGann. After that tiny little 7 minute special I was really hoping to see more of him.
I think I just felt that the Elizabeth plot detracted greatly from the actual plot, in which I was far more interested. The chopping around from one plot line to another just annoyed me.
The special effect of making a planet disappear was cooler in the Hitchhiker's movie.

Yeah, Queenie just wasn't believable either.
Three incarnations of one alien traveling back and forth through time, monsters, sociopaths and incredible technology? Yeah, I could get behind that. But Queenie just didn't seem believable.

Life is becoming a little too much today. Please excuse me while I become a hermit for a little while; it's not stuff I can talk about here.

A lazy day yesterday; work was a bit manic but in the afternoon refused to go outside so I got to just stay in and play. We did finally get a bit of a walk after dark when we went to the shop with Daddy so that Mummy could buy some . Not the greatest role modelling in the world, but hey, at least we got a walk!
Mr Vip has handed in his application for voluntary redundancy, and I've applied for a second job (not a full time one, just a few extra hours working for the National Trust, so more for the experience than the money).

Good luck with the National Trust application! Is this for the park place you mentioned wanting to go to earlier?

A three day working week does give me some nice time off from looking after , I will admit. Just about to jump in the car to collect him, and then attempt to drive him to sleep. Sleeeeeeep, small child, sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

*purrs* That's lovely, thank you Lil. I love that website. It never appears to have the thing I'm looking for at the time, but it usually has something wonderful enough to distract me!
Feeling a bit meh about the job today. I think it requires someone with a much better memory than I have. People joke about baby brain, and yes, I'm pretty darn sure I have that, but it wasn't great to start with. Now it's terrible. Yesterday I ticked a load of people off of the register, and then went around ten minutes later and asked them again because I didn't remember that I'd seen them. That's on top of my boss asking me questions about the paperwork status of individual students. I can't remember who any of them are, let alone if they were coming back next term. P.S. That's why when I said I made notes on the register for you, as requested, I sort of expected you to check on that before you emailed me back.
*sigh*
There's another job on the horizon that I like the look of, but I won't hear anything for a little while as the closing date is today.
I could go back to the sling idea but I'm suffering a bit from confidence failure about that at the moment. I think it's partly that we just don't have enough time to discuss things properly, we're just sort of flailing about from one decision to another as life keeps on chucking them at us. They're not all bad ones, it's just feeling a little unending.
On the plus side is definitely starting to settle at nursery. He almost forgot to cry when he saw me yesterday. It sort of makes me all the more annoyed that if I resign then all of his hard work at adapting will be for nothing, as we can't afford to pay the fees if I'm not working. Oh well. Maybe I'll get that other job, who knows!

After expecting a miserable night because we had to drive him to sleep, slept until after 7am this morning. I fell asleep before 10pm last night as well, so with only one wake up at 4:30 I got nine hours sleep. I'm now so tired that I feel like I've been drugged, but I'm hoping the fog will lift once my body gets over the shock!
I've got a get together with the other folks that run the sling library today so hopefully I can get my keen back on for that particular adventure. I've even been sent a test wrap and ring sling by a maker in Belgium to show everyone (it's a good way of promoting your wares) so it should be fun as long as I can keep entertained as well.
