Hi Bossel! Haven't dropped off the face of the earth, no worries! 
I've been on vacation at my parents' house for the past two weeks, and they don't have internet access. As for the conversations: I generally unsubscribe after the threads wander off the topic, or when no one replies to me for a while. I've got a couple more possible Guide entries on the back burner but I need to some more reading before I can put up drafts.
How were your holidays? Hope they went well.
By the way- how do you tell if someone has unsubscribed from a conversation?

Happy New Year!
My holidays were somewhat short because I didn't take any. I rather keep those valuable days for spring (going to Southern France) and summer (don't know yet).
Detecting unsubscription is easy:
a) post something to a thread and check if it pops up on someone's User space
b) just go through the list of conversations and see if you find a subject
In your case I noticed that your conversation list was shrinking over the two or three occasions when I visited your space.
