Flying solo

Cystogram yesterday to check for leaks - all OK. Staples & one catheter removed.
Tomorrow I go back in for a few days. Drain & final catheter to be removed & stents capped off. Then, as my consultant said, I shall be flying solo with my new equipment.
It will be great to get rid of the tubes & bags, but I fear it will be a hard slog to achieve good continence.
Looking forward to feeling fit (& dry) enough to resume more normal activities.

Living in the country

is really stinky when the farmer has been muck spreading especially when it's warm, rainy weather.

Two in five

I heard on the radio this morning that it's now two in five people will be diagnosed with cancer. No longer so elite eh?

My saga drags on, I now have a choice of two types of surgery. Both are radical cystectomy, but then either a reconstructed internal bladder substitute or conventional stoma. The specialist nurse gave me a pre-op pack to use, so currently I have a bag of water stuck to me. Although the reconstruction is longer in hospital & tricky to learn to use, with a possible need to use a catheter & risk of some incontinence, I'm thinking of giving it a go.

I have to go for another biopsy to see if the relevant bits are still healthy. Why couldn't they check that last time, just in case? Now looking at late Aug for the big op.
