Hi Z,
I am new and decided to accept your kind offer to leave a message. I came upon your page from the "Forum". It would seem that you are 3 weeks younger than my brother - but then again he is twenty years younger than me.
I came to H2G2 specifically to find a forum to share ideas about those nagging questions which most people either take far too seriously or dismiss out of hand as somehow not really worth asking.
Off the top of my head I am working on , "Is God conscious?" This comes complete with a list of questions which seem to fold back on themselves (alot of free will thrown in), "Why do we do what we do?" again a root question which touches on values, beliefs and motivations.
Over the years I have also written all manner of 1-3 page "entries" into my journal. They may be of some interest as I see alot of related topics being discussed. I do not see where edited Guide selections are posted or how they differ from a well considered response. If you could clue me in on what may be of value as an edited Guide entry I would appreciate your thoughts.

I just wanted to drop you a note to say...
I wanted to find out how far along you are in your studies. My next door neighbor is now an intern MD. Very nice guy with a wife and four kids. He studied at the same hospital where my wife worked.
If you are into the mental aspects of the medical profession please look at my site on Pick's disease and if you have any suggestions I would gladly listen to your thoughts.
I hope you did well on your tests. I thought them interesting in the manner is which you said they were performed.

Hi Z!
Your name sounded like such a familiar subject to me, I just had to say hello! When I decided to study medicine, my father asked if I didn't want to do something "proper"...
I still didn't see the error of my ways, am now nearly finished and enjoyed most of it.
So - I am glad for you! It's a good thing to do...

I just wanted to drop you a note to say...I read your piece on transexualism. I have a friend who is going for the op in 2 wks.
its been hard road to this point and I am only a friend who started out as a volunteered to person on her books.
She seems to have it all sorted but any info you can add to that which we have may be helpful as I can only support her as a friend and from some distance as the CXH is in london & I am in Glousceter.
I also see that you have writen about mental health have you seen www.Madforarts.org ? or see my space

To Jed
there is a school of thought that says
that merely saying that God exists is a limiting statement, as it implies that there is the option that he does not exist. As aquinas once said; The fool in his heart says that there is no God.
If you take the superlative the best the most beautiful etc, the theor is that the point where all of these ideas intersect is the point that you come close to the divine.
However there is nothing to say that it sshould be the point where you arrive at a benign benevolent God.
Interestingly from a social point of view God seems to evolve as concept according to the social fabric in which He is put. the more basic cultures have polytheistic beliefs, but gradually this is superceded by a single Law giving god.
Intially the turmoil of the conflict of God the bringer of fire and thunder is again superceded by the still small voice of calm who reflects a world of order and of harmony, a universal Nirvanah.
Consciousness is putting God on the human scale. Jesus was conscious, God made man. God however cannot be conscious as it imples again a limit to the powers of God. Infinity cannot be conscious, as it imlies a limit to infinity which by definition cannot exist.
Anthropomorphism of god is a limited paradigm, and such a limit to the powers of God is self defeating and allows for the non existence of an entity which cannot not exist.
It is like asking if the number zero can ever have a value greater or lesser than itself. The answer is that it cannot.

I just wanted to drop you a note to say... your introduction reminds me of the junk mail soliciting magazine subscriptions or what not and include your name to make it more personal. Anyways, hope all is well. Feliz Cinco de Mayo... wait... nevermind. it's over for you. Well... Happy VE Day then.
