Something I wrote a while ago, entered into a competition, didn't win, so here it is:
Who said don't kill rabbits?
I am not a rabbit.
I don't have time to be a rabbit.
Why should we not kill them then?
It is true, I would love to be a rabbit:
Hop, hop, hop.
Bask in the early morning sun,
Drink the early morning dew.
Yes, I would like to be a rabbit.
Bang! That’s all it took.
Murder, in a hidden copse.
It was early morning, too.

I wouldn't want to be any rabbit, but certainly not the one in the poem

At times, when life is so complicated, and all rabbits do is eat grass and make more rabbits, the rabbit life seems appealing for its simplicity.

Being a rabbit is tougher than it looks. There're all those predators to handle. Rabbits have to eat their own dung as digesting once isn't enough when it comes to grass. There's the whole problem of the weather..

Oh, but I was looking at the rabbit life from an airy-fairy poetic point of view, where all those things don't exist.
I take your point though. Myxomatosis as well.
