h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

This week has seen a remarkable work of community. We started as individuals worried by a common concern, frightened by the effect of actors from humanity's darker side upon the people from among humanity's most sensitive side. We started as individuals.

We came together to try to prevent a terrible mistake from occuring. Everyone who contributed towards this effort has come one step closer to a worldwide community. There are those who gave their time from the beginning of the incident; there are others who joined more recently. All contribute. They, or we, are the Willem Love Collective.

As a celebration of all that is good in life, and despite or because of the darker side of humanity, we have created a page to relax on. Here will be an Oasis of Calm, a Haven to free yourselves from the nightmare of reality. This is also a present for Willem. This is to say that we care, and we support, and we hope you know that.

All we can do about anything is all we can do. But I am slowly feeling hopeful.

For a long time I have believed in the power of what Jung called the collective subconscious. Economists call it market forces. The Germans call it the zeitgeist. This is the combined power of the thoughts, hopes and prayers of individuals.

At times like these, all we can do is hold peace and love in our hearts, knowing that these are the most powerful forces in the universe. Luther-King changed the civil rights of millions of Americans. Mandela overthrew one of the most repressive regimes of modern times. And Ghandi ended an Empire.

A group of separate individuals did something very special last Sunday.

And on a larger scale - I think that all people of peace around the world ARE making a difference in these present times. A coalition is being built. The rhetoric is of measured response, extraditions and trials.

However helpless we may feel - it is comforting to see evidence that what we do DOES make a difference.

I hope that everyone can be...

I believe that love and understanding are what will make us a happier, better species and society. We can make love, we can make life, we can dream dreams and try to make them come true.

Get busy livin or get busy dyin.

The love collective was formed in direct opposition to death.
