The fact that you know who Syd Barrett is was not singularly astonishing. There are many throughout the world who look upon his works as perhaps some of the best work of a tortured genius. No, that alone was not surprising.

I look at the name and think to myself "Ah yes, I know this Plastic Squirrel, he is a good and loyal Thingite". Then something catches the eye. "Listening to a Thin Lizzy LP". Not two musical tastes which would normally be mentioned in tandem, you must admit! Now I must go and see his pers. space.

So.... a muso with some degree of taste.

Now I find myself opening his website (in another window) to see if he can surprise me.

I can be fairly certain that Led Zepplin, Jethro Tull and the original Fleetwood Mac (with Pete Green) will get a guernsey. Maybe even John Mayalls Bluesbreakers could be in there.

Tom Waits, Warren Zevon, Neil Young?? Definite maybes.

They're all there, oh yes. My LP collection is packed with obssessive diversity with everything from Pinky and Perky up to Slayer. Though the biggest chunk contains Rory Gallagher, The Grateful Dead, Roy Harper and Steve Hillage.
