Thanks, I know you do.
The usual pattern with my outbursts is that I finish up regretting them, though they do seem to have the effect of getting a lot of very different people to agree with each other - if only to slag me off.
I think your own experiences look pretty similar.
This time, I'm still hoping it'll land the right way up. Waz is right on the money, as usual.

I gave up writing for the EG as a one woman protest against the heavy handedness of the Italics in promoting writing for the EG, they hinted that those that use h2g2 to chat (which I like) were less well thought of than those who wrote for the EG

Yep.
Whereas the real point is that there's good and bad everywhere. There's great chat and there's crap chat, just as there are great EG Entries and very ordinary ones.
I've read personal stories in Journals that have brought a tear to my eye. I've read considered opinions in convos that have changed my opinions. There are poems in the Post I can go and read whenever I need a lift.
None of those things are even allowed in the EG, of course.
It's people with ideas that make the difference. Doesn't matter what form or Forum they're writing in, only that they've got something to say.

It's the lack of creativity that I find so sad. I know I keep banging on about fiction but I've tried my hand a most genre's now and I've written stuff I never concidered a year ago, I've done Drama, Angst, Romance (something I never thought I'd write) Action, Spiritual, Supernatural, Suspense and Humour, that surprised me the most as when I first started writing I could not for the life of me write humour now it's the biggest genre in my collection. That's what I mean about the EG, there's no way of expanding your abilities and I love a challenge, infact I often beg for challenges among my fanfic peers
