Dropping off a Fish for You

Hello, dear Pin!

Off to give my little undergrads their Stuart England midterm. Let's hope they did themselves a favor and did the reading, shall we?

I still don't understand why the Addled Parliment is called that. They weren't addled, just quickly dismissed.

Tomorrow (don't want to have some hapless student of mine stumble upon this!) I'll give you the essay they had to write. It's quite a novel question, really. I didn't write it, sadly. But I wrote another one, an most of the short answers are mine. Could be fun!

Cool!
(and lovely to hear from you again)
I'll watch out for your stuff, and read with interest.

Addled Parliament? Dunno, really. Addled means gone off, doesn't it, like bad eggs? Hey, it's been a few years since school. I kind of forget which short-lived Parliament was which.

Well, I don't know for certain that they follow me, but one never knows in the cyberworld if one has a cyber stalker....

(somehow, that sounds really corny)

The question was this:

Charles I was accused of being an innovator by his contemporaries. He would have said he was just upholding the rights of the monarchy as he saw fit. Was Charles I an innovator or not? Please choose a side and argue it, using specific examples from both the reading and the lectures to back up your thesis.

Pin, you cannot believe how many people did NOT get the idea here. Is the question really all that difficult?! I actually flunked one person outright, because they went on and on about Elizabeth and James, and only wrote three sentences about Charles.

Okay, just to get on the soapbox for a moment, why are these people wasting my time, and their (or the government's) money?!

But on the bright side, I had one kid I gave a perfect score to. I'm hoping he's a history major!!

Interesting. I'll really have to go read up. I'm struggling to think of something that Charles did that could be called innovative. I have a recollection/perception that all the changes of his time were forced on him, and that he was a conservative.

I don't know why people waste time and taxes. But, if they didn't, the world might well be a less interesting place. And you probably wouldn't be nearly as excited about the guy with the really good answer if the rest had been halfway decent.

Idiots are absolutely necessary for the self-esteem of the mediocre.

Hey. I'm not supposed to be here! Later, yeah?

You don't have to steal it, dear. smiley - kiss

Happy V Day to you and the Weddell and the girls, as well.

I got roses from the soon to be ex, and a pint of ice cream from my Irish co-worker...excellent. Chocolate with pistachios. I think he had it made specially for me at a place round here...

(don't tell anyone, but Irish men are actually quite hopeless romantics!)

Off to bed and up in 5 hours...yikes!
