My name is Galaxy Babe and I am an Assistant Community Editor (ACE) and also a Guardian Angel for fun!smiley - angel
Just one of a group of researchers who like to meet, greet and hopefully befriend newcomers to the guide. smiley - hug
There are plenty of things to do around the Guide, from chatting in forums to writing your own Guide entries.smiley - bigeyes
If you wish to see the Guide entries I have written, please click on my name and you will be taken to my personal space, where the entries are recorded.
You can also visit http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/PeerReview where you can read prospective entries, and add your comments if you wish.
Constructive critisism is always welcomed! smiley - biggrin
As you travel round, you will find more and more interesting things.
Do not worry about getting lost, you can always return "home" by clicking on the "My Space" button on each page.
Every conversation you take part in will be listed on your page, these are your "threads". Every time someone posts after you, the thread will be refreshed on your page.
You can then return and reply if you wish.
When you no longer wish to participate in a particular conversation, you can click the "unsubscribe" link just below it, and the thread will be removed from your page. Then click on "my space" to return home.smiley - schooloffish

Well, hey Galaxy Babe Madam Assistant Community Editor,
how's it going? What's happening? Everything? Well that's just oh so bad, because I have been hoping for an opportunity to pull your chain. And seeing as how as you are a very nice person with a soul of service,* I thought I might express myself and perhaps ask a question.

Anyway, I am lerking about and generally enjoying myself. When it occurs to me, there's probably not a lot of room on this here electronic encyclopedia, for anything a broke down old hill Billy like me might write.

Well anyway Miss Babe, I was wondering does the Guide ever, like except stuff that's like provincial and uh you know colloquial and stuff?

Hi Thorn Bush! smiley - smiley

I am an ACE like AGB.

To answer you question have you checked out the "Deciding What to Write" pages?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/writing-guidelines

These are a useful reference with lots of actual guide Entries to lead by example - that set out the various 'qualities', if I can call them that, of Entries that are included in the Guide.
"colloquialisms" aren't specifically mentioned but that said the guidelines do emphasise that you should write about what you know.
Third person is the style for preference, however there are exceptions:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/SubEditors-Style (See: "Major Things")

Hope that all proves useful.

See you around.

Dear Galaxy Babe and Clive,

I want to think you for taking the time to point me in the right direction. It looks like I'll be busy for a while with the new learning curve. The "Deciding What to Write" and "Major Things" pages are just what I was looking for. I believe I need to master GuideML, and perhaps English English.

I know I've been bad, but I'm sure Mena is not my cup of tea.
If I knew GuideML this would be one of those smiley thingies.
