Amy: ear-deep in novels, poetics, and historical documents. Started conversation Aug 10, 2001
Hi there and welcome to h2g2! My name is Amy, and I'm an ACE, or assistant community editor, here at the Guide. We ACEs are the official meeters and greeters here, and we also help out new researchers ("newbies") with any problems they might encounter. The Guide can be overwhelming-- that's why we and the various other volunteer groups are here: to help. In order to answer some of the more common questions, I made this little page with links to some of the more important places here:

The social aspect of h2g2 is unrivaled on the internet-- we have a club for every interest, and everyone here's extremely friendly. My user space (which you can get to by clicking on my name above) has a list of the organizations I'm involved in-- you may be interested in some of them.
In any case, if there's anything you need, don't hesitate to let me know by either responding to this message or leaving me a note on my user page. I hope to see you out and about-- enjoy your time here at the Guide!!
~Amy (ACE, Keeper of Wolves, Muse of Procrastinating Novelists, High Priestess of Thing)
ps, the smiley page is here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Smiley -- we've got tons!

Thanx! This is a truly unique site. If you check out the weblink I gave on my intro. next month (September) then you should see a review of H2G2. It's Semtember's site of the month.

This is much better than the other sites I'm reviewing. I've got a friend to pitch in and she's picked the Clanger's site (aargh!). Not that I'm puppetist.

Thanx.
You should see a link from my page to an article I'm just finishing up. It is a (short) dictionary on How to Speak Cat .
I'm also trying to get a page into the edited Guide (on Universal Red Shift). I've had several comments since I submitted it to Peer Review.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
