The Creation/Evolution project is, I think, now ready for your tender ministrations.

One question: is the University Project Front Page enough, do you think, or would the whole thing benefit from a "front page" directing the user to the various other pages? And should I write that, or should you? (I don't know if I have the "distance" required to look at all the entries dispassionately and produce a "map" that isn't biased.) I'm not picturing anything complex, just a brief intro along the lines of:

"A popular topic of, shall we say, lively discussion on h2g2 has the disagreements between those who believe in the Biblical account of Creation and those who propound the theory of evolution. This project aims to pull a number of contradictory viewpoints into an overall discussion of BOTH sides of the argument." It could then give a one line intro to each entry, ending in a link.

What do you think?

Also, now I've finally got my finger out and got almost all of it finished, have you any idea how long before the fateful Front Page day?

I think previous University Projects generally have an entry along the lines of '[Project name] - a brief introduction'. The obvious one for this project would be the 'Glossary' entry - I could extend it a little to include links to all the other pages with a short description. The 'Card Games' project )A597882) on the front page at the moment is a good example of this. Let me know what you think...

As to how long it'll take for 'Evolution & Creation' to make it to the front page... Probably a few weeks after I finish subbing, which I would hope to do within about a week, probably less. So, perhaps within a month or so..? That is really just a guess and it depends on what else there is going through the system at the moment. Projects do seem to make it to the front page quicker then regular entries though. Sorry I can't be a bit more precise

Anyway, I'll let Anna know you're finished and I'll get it subbed as soon as possible.

Hi Danny, http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F88036?thread=180865&skip=0&show=20 Interesting conversation going on there, and specifically I think "Jordan" has made two good points: (1) Despite best efforts I've predictably not achieved the perfect impartiality I would have hoped for in the Entry "The Tension Between Science and Religion" (2) He wrote a good critique and an alternative definition of faith in posting 8. So... I wanna leave my entry more or less as it is - it's wot I writ, and it remains what I think, pretty much. However, Jordan's alternative view is equally valid and well put, so if he pulls it into shape into a Guide Entry pretty sharpish, can we add it to the project as an "answer" to my entry? I'm conscious that the original intention was to achieve balance, and there's a preponderance of pro-science stuff. This is of course due in part to my personal views. Mea culpa. So... assuming Jordan can knock out the entry reasonable soon, could we get his entry in? ? Please? H.

I've no problem with subbing it, so just let me know when it's up and ready and I'll get the Towers to transfer it over to me

Just been reading your excellent project on the Pythons, and was scanning down and found a mistake in this:

You state near the end that "Twelve Monkeys" was based on "La Jetee". True. You state that "Terminator" was as well. Not true. "Terminator" was based on - or as James Cameron had it in one ill-judged quote "ripped off from" - an episode of "The Outer Limits" called "Soldier". Unfortunately for Cameron, the author of that particular episode was the famously litigious Harlan Ellison. Ellison sued, and won.

Right... the project has had its first going over - I'll be going through everything once more before I send it back to the Towers, to check for lingering typos etc.

Let me know if there's anything you want to comment on - I've added an introduction section to the Glossary article, and the 'Evolution' and 'Discrepancies' articles have each been split into two parts. The full list is available on my space (U182633).

If you want to add any more entries to the project, just let me know...

I believe there's a World Cup project coming up this week, and then I hope Evolution/Creation will be the next one after that ¥and Monty Python after that :-¤¤ That was the last I heard, but things may of course have changed since then©©©

Stupid machine

Just reading your excellent project on James Bond, and specifically the entry on the first few films. A little technical niggle - Little Nellie was NOT a mini-helicopter - she was an auto-gyro, a quite different device. The main difference is that the autogyro's main rotor is not powered - so they can't hover. Other than that though - very well written, interesting and informative

Would Wing Commander Ken Wallis be worth a footnote, do you think, as the builder and pilot of "Little Nellie"? The amazing thing is, he's STILL flying her - the aircraft approaching forty, and him over EIGHTY years old.
