I thought I'd drop by (after all, I already made an *idiot* of myself earlier, right?) Have a mufflewhump...

Ah, bless you Amy. You didn't make an idiot of yourself at all; I should have made my prize clearer but I found it entirely endearing that you thought by 'tongue activity' that I meant singing. Thanks for the mufflewhump: this particular one is a ticket to my favourite Christmas nightspot - Bar Humbug.

To be honest, the phrase 'tongue activity' wasn't even noticed until *after* I'd had snog defined... I had just been so certain that you'd said 'Festive Holiday Songs'...

Context is everything I suppose; if I'd hung some sprigs of mistletoe about the place you might have noticed. But as you're so keen for some songs, and I never did give you a prize, here goes...

ding dong merrrrrrilleeee on high

Sorry, didn't think it would turn the punctuation into part of the URL...

Oops, that's okay, it seemed to work at the time. Ahm..... you'll have to excuse me a little because it was last evening when I looked at your links and now it is this evening and I'm half cut. Not sure if you meant me to look at your artist man whatever his name was, or yourself, so I looked at both. Your artist man whatever his name was was... actually, I wouldn't know where to begin to produce something like that. It is beyond me. I liked the one with the bridge. Or viaduct. But, I don't know, and I'm not just saying this, or about to at any rate, but your stuff appeals far more. I'm in love with The Pig Laureate. You've managed to achieve a snapshot quality to that - something I strive for in more illustratorly work. Art is in the accidental and snapshots are the accidental enshrined. Perhaps you copied it from a photo? (and I mean that as a compliment). And besides, I adore pigs (in all their forms). It's funny that you should send me those links because, after a recent commission, I've been pondering drawing again. I don't quite know how I would draw. Oh, I liked the last plate too - the disparate size of that one piece of... sorry, can only remember a visceral image. Mismatched. Hm.
I also, much against my better judgement because I find it odd suddenly to put a face to researchers but curiosity won through and after all you are a real person, had a squint at your photos. Just to look at the blurred one would have been having my cake and eating it so I looked at one of the wedding ones too - you beaming from the back of a car. I hope your day was as marvellous as the impression of it that that one photo conveys. And I have a composite image of you that is with me now.
Isn't it a shame that people can't have their own artwork, or whatever they like, on their my spaces? Damn that. You've made me realise even more how lucky I am.
Bung ho,
spimc

It took me a while to figure out that, by artist man, you meant Michael Whelan... I sat here and looked at my stuff for the longest time trying to figure out what man, and what bridge... I wish I were half that good... (Of course, the fact that I haven't really done anything, save a couple of self-portraits that have gone to meets, and a logo for the now defunct Solid Rock, since I graduated December of '99, may have something to do with it, though I wasn't that great in college, either, I don't think...) Well, as you can tell from that parenthetical thing (maybe not now, but it might be easier when you're sober) I tend to be a bit insecure... Though the fact that all the artists I know on here like my stuff helps... (In case you're wondering, there's yourself, Wowbagger, Amy the Ant, and March Hare, who is probably the only one of those you haven't heard of, and the only one whose work I haven't actually seen...) Pig Laureate *did* come from a photo, and there's a portrait of the artist in it! I'm the laughing one in the striped shirt... Oh, and that last plate consists of shells, except for the ink splotch I had to turn into a bee. Nothing visceral...
I like to put faces with names, and you obviously have a scanner... (hint, hint)
Eek, w**k calls... Talk to you later!

'A connection failure has occured' so chances are 50/50 that this is a repeat.
I suspect that that will never make as much sense as when I'm drunk. I know Amy the Ant is responsible for work on The Post but I'm not sure what. Do you happen to know who's the artist with the quick turn around who does the Front Page circles or bosses or roundels? Those are wonderful.
I also suspect that secretly you quite like your work (or not so secretly, hence your sending me the links) and why not? I like it too. What I wanted to say before about the difference between artists like us and Michael Whelan ('twas he that I meant) is that there is a humanity to our work, not in what we depict but in the way that we do it. I'm not knocking Mr Whelan but there's something I can't quite touch about his art, or that doesn't touch me...
Splotch into bee?: as I said, art is in the accidental.
Portrait of me? Have a look at my guest appearance in h2g2 life in Wowbagger's archive. The fourth panel in (where I'm saying 'Great gad! My good conscience has a good conscience') is a not unreasonable mirror likeness. And that's as close as I get to posting photos of meself.
And now I'm off to have another look at the laughing one in the striped shirt.

You've seen Amy's work... She's the one that did the picture of Greebo, and all those fish that grace the Post... I think the pictures on the front page are done by people in The Towers...
The bee took lots of research to find after the ink dripped... The class that was for was Representational Drawing and, as you can guess from the plates, it was a class for scientific illustration and the like. We were supposed to turn in professional looking works, so when my pen dripped a drop nearly a centimeter across when I was thisclose to finishing... I mean, stippling takes *forever*...
And I'm off, to go take a peek at that cartoon...

Well, I almost caught you on here... I saw you on the 'Who's Online' list, and was going to pop over to say hi, but w**k interrupted, and you were gone again by the time I could get back... Oh, well...

You have to be fast to catch a spimcoot, we're like fleeting elephants in the night. Never seen an elephant fleeting in the night? Exactly.
Thanks for the mufflewhump and hug returned.

My sympathies for that unnatural state known as w**k. It's about time for the land of nod here in Blighty, so I shall finish my whisky and toddle off to indulge in the blessedly natural state known as sleepy byes.
Night night.
