me-'kä-nEks* | chaotic disequilibrium

I recall an ecology lecture I attended in which the lecturer described nature as being in a constant state of flux. There is no natural balance, he claimed, only a perennially shifting disequilibrium in which partially opposing forces work in a way that could--although mostly inaccurately--be described as "in concert." From all of this, we discern a sum that is, while not in balance, something that begins to remotely approach sustainability.

This is my life.

currently, i'm thinking about...

death

What follows is a short piece of writing that speaks for itself. Problem is, it doesn't really say what I want it to. I'm considering using it as a springboard/intro for a larger piece, perhaps covering the issue I originally intended to address--the questions that inevitably arise in the taking of a human life--but in a less direct fashion, and alongside a host of other, larger but perhaps less timeless issues in a Snow Crash-esque, quasi-apocalyptic environment. Or maybe not. *shrug* At any rate, check out "Hand to Hand."

This page looks better (and loads faster) in Brunel. If simplicity is the epitome of elegance, then clearly there is no alternative.

h2g2 code block

In an act of protest against the stagnation-inducing practice of protocol adherence, I refuse to post my h2g2 code block with the standard formatting. In addition (and in support of the development of more flexible information architectures), I've added a rather intuitive and self-explanatory feature to the system: whenever you see a .5 in front of a + or -, well, it means .5.
