h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hi.

You probably remember me from such threads as 'Linearising f(x) = blah blah blah, and aren't I acting like an incredible whanker?'

For random reasons, I came across that thread way and had another read. From what I see, it went like this:

I said something that was obviously a bit of a dig at you. You pointed out that it was uncomplimentary. I got defensive... and so on.

I presented variously a trite apology, self-righteous insufferability and further indefensible commentaries, and demonstrated completely, and as you correctly surmised, that I was a whanker.

And I don't know if I ever got around to seriously apologising for that. In fact, when I read over it, I look like an unreasonable prick, and I should have just apologised and backed down in the first instance.

So I'd like to say I'm really sorry about it, and retract everything I said.

If you accept my apology, you don't need to reply with more than 'apology accepted'. I hope that you do, and if so perhaps I can repair what must be a pretty negative first-impression!

Don't worry, you did come and apologise at the time. I have come across your name in other threads and you've seemed perfectly reasonable so I had already put it down to your having a bad day. We all have those now and again
