It's Been Awhile, Part Something...

I haven't posted a journal since NaJoPoMo?
And I haven't exactly been talkative elsewhere on h2g2, but that's not unusual... I have been keeping up with journals and the Atelier and such, though.
So, what's been going on the last few months? In December, I made and sold fudge, enough to help some with Christmas. PaperKid's big Christmas present was a metal loft bed, so that she actually has some space in her part of the room that she and Notepad share (dividing it equally cuts a window in half (and dividing it in the other direction won't work, because the room is long and skinny), and Notepad has quite a lot of toys that need to reside somewhere, so...) and I actually got around to assembling it in less than a month
Both girls are enjoying 4H--PaperKid made a skirt that got 3rd place in the local 4H Home Ec show, and her cookies (which had to have grains (easy), fruit (easy), protein (easy), vegetables (bit more thinking, but not too hard), and dairy (ended up making a topping of cream cheese and vanilla yogurt)) did as well. She's also started archery, and is enjoying it--she got her first bulls-eye at last month's meeting. Notepad is in Clover Sprouts, which is basically to 4H what Brownies are to Girl Scouts. Notepad put some artwork and a bead bracelet in to Home Ec Day, too, but Under 9s don't compete--they get Participation Certificates.
Notepad is now 7.
The chicks we got on PaperKid's birthday/my h2g2 anniversary back in July have been laying nice green eggs for a month or 2 now, and the chicks we picked up in November should start laying any time now (most likely light brown, though the leghorn mix *might* lay white).
I've recently jumped through the hoops to officially make and sell fudge! The permit I have allows me to sell directly to consumers, including at the local farmer's market and craft fairs. I don't need to use a commercial kitchen! The labels clearly state (in mandated 12 point font) that what I make is made in a home kitchen. If I want to graduate to selling to stores, then I need different licensing and to use a commercial kitchen. I've already sold about 15 pounds-worth (weight, not quid--about $100) through word of mouth, repeat customers from Christmas, and Facebook posts. My business cards should be here by the end of the week, and the principal at the school I work at has already said I can leave a bunch in the staff lounge (she also said I didn't have to ask, but she appreciated the fact that I did).
I'm sure that, if there's anything else important/interesting, it'll come to mind as I post
Amy P's NaJoPoMo 2015

This year, I've got an A page that I'll be attaching my NaJoPoMo entries to. I'll post the link to each day's entry to this thread.
The A page is A87862224
A Day of Round Things
Posted Oct 18, 2015
First, pancakes, American style (with streaky bacon... Should've gotten a round meat, but BACON)
Then, tournament for PaperKid's team. They went into the tournament undefeated, and left it the same way In the dreich, no less, after a full season of dry games.
Then, my fertile chicken hatching eggs that I swapped a jar of blackberry jam and a jar of green beans for arrived! 11 Marans eggs, and 9 Sulmtaler eggs. Photos of the eggs (and the packing job, with commentary) can be seen at http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1022588/chickens-in-ya-window/1820#post_15970550 I'll be splitting the eggs between my incubator and my broody hen after they have sat for a day, to rest (shipping is hard on eggs, even if they've been packed awesomely).
Then there was the team party--balloons, basketballs, skate wheels, , cookies...

...if I go insane, and decide to do another entry spread over NaJoPoMo again, what should I write about? (Blame 2legs, of course, but 'twas paul that inspired me to think about such things so early) It'd have to be something like the chicken one, that I've already done bunches of research on and would be just oozing information out my fingertips (and confirming that I've remembered correctly). I suppose the simplest would be to expand one of the sections of A87846547 but I don't know what non-chicken folks would be interested in. Then again, the main value behind the Entry is that I thought (and have since been told) that there wasn't anywhere that has everything in one place. There's *tons* of places to find info on the individual aspects. As such, an entry on an individual aspect wouldn't be anything special. Hm... Well, we're not even a third of the way through October yet, so I don't really need to think about it anyway
July=Run, run, run!

As everyone that's known me for a few years knows, fireworks selling season hits every year from June 28th-July 5th. So that's a lot of running around and waiting. At least this year, I had the excitement of appearing on the Front Page! I now know how to copy-and-paste links on my phone
July 11th was PaperKid's 12th birthday. Since her birthday follows on the heels of fireworks selling season, not a whole lot of advance planning tends to go into her birthday party. It probably also doesn't help that *my* birthday parties were pretty much family only (a natural consequence of my birthday being 3 days after Christmas--I was generally hundreds of miles from my friends during the "Birthday parties are important" years), so I don't really have a clue what a birthday party involves other than what I've picked up over the years. Anyway, *this* year, I was inspired to throw PaperKid a surprise party. Partly because PaperKid wasn't expecting a party until later in the month, and partly because I'd already been planning on spending some mom-and-daughter time with her (perfect time for Tom and Notepad to decorate the house) The surprise was a complete success.
July 11th was also my 14th h2g2 anniversary!
July 12th was Tom and my 18th anniversary. We went out to dinner and will be getting away later this week (tomorrow is a dentist appointment for Notepad, and PaperKid's first practice of the season).
