Kerr_Avon - hunting stray apostrophes and gutting poorly parsed sentences

This is going to sound like an odd question, but given your job, do you know a supplier of 'technical' dictionaries? You know the sort of thing I mean? It's just our company has just taken over a Swedish company, and we could really do with a Swedish/English dictionary with engineering terms in it...

Personally, no idea, but I'll ask one of our Swedish sub-contractors what they use and try and get back to you with the ISBN N°. etc. tomorrow.

**cough**

**dusts off old thread**

Sorry, took a while to get hold of our Swedish Translator...

The one she recommends is a two-volume affair...

ENGELSK_SVENSK teknisk ordbok - ISBN 9197137294 97.01
SVENSK_ENGELSK teknisk ordbok - ISBN 9197325600 98

Hope that helps

Well, we do send a bit of work her way dealing with ALSTOM Transport TGVs, underground trains, trams, that sort of thing... so I thought she'd be roughly in the same field as you smiley - ok

Got one answer for the German...

Asked out in-house German transator and he sugggested Langenscheidt - who do a range of technical dicos for various domains...

Have a quick glance at
http://www.langenscheidt.de/english/products/fachverlag/index.html

As for the Italian, an e-mail is on its way to our pet Eye-tie as we speak...

Over a grand for the CD version. I do look at the prices, I can only sign for so much.

Yikes - that must be a collection of _all_ the dictionaries... Don't know how long this link'll last coz it's overtly commercial but since you posted I had a look around... have a look at this http://www.computeruniverse.net/products/e90100936/e_Fachwoerterbuch_English_Technik_angewandte_Wissenschaften.asp for just the "Dictionary of Technology and Applied Sciences" - maybe if you can find the one (or couple of) dictionary(ies) that cover what you want it might be cheaper
