Hi,
I just saw that you play E flat in the symphony orchestra. I was a little surprised as there don't seem to that many of us around.

Sorry, have to post and run before my daughter destroys the place.

HI Ythika!
Yes, I certainly am a fabulous Ebist!
Well, on the way there hopefully... smiley - blush
Unfortunately there isn't much chance for me to play except to myself in my part of the world. I play in a local wind band and for the first time for 2yrs we're playing a piece with an Eb part and we're playing up in the Royal Festival Hall eek! Where I will be probably making the audience run away with my lovely 4 ledger line top G#s on Eb smiley - biggrin
Anyways, hopeur daugter didn't cause too much havoc and confusion!

I could block my daughter's playing out but this time tomorrow night we will be playing in the Eisteddfod. I'm not too worried my part is comparatively easy and anything our conductor didn't like the sound of he cut from my part and gave it to the flute or picc. I don't mind too much as I wouldn't play it if my hands were in better shape.

I do get plenty of parts, I'm a little surprised you don't. Most of our concert pieces have a part and some of the simpler crowd pleaser pieces do too. I'm sure I'd make the audience run with a high G# too. I have a bit of trouble getting up that high consistently and am hoping to pick up a book aimed at Eb players in particular. I'm waiting for the Aussie dollar to get a bit closer to $US0.70 to make it a little cheaper.

When is your concert? Good luck.

Ythika

Lol, well we play quite easy stuff I guess it would be fair to say. Maybe John (MD) will make a point of chosing pieces with Eb parts in now. buggrin>
The concerts on July 11th shuld be fun! Flying out to Florida the following morning as well yay!
There doesn't seem to be much out there specifically for Ebing does there? smiley - cry

Not much for us at all. I think it is an instrument that does not win you any friends. Our conductor calls it a swinepipe and it and oboes are often called "an ill-wind that nobody blows good." Holst and Mendhelsen (?) actually have written for 2 Eb's. Scary! I've seen it other places too but not often.

What's in Florida? Fun or work?

I'll catch up again soon - they are showing the local team on tv for the first time in a few years and it's week 12 or 13 in the season and they are no. 2 on the ladder no. 1 for a long time but the tv station don't care. So a little football for the first time in ages.

Florida? Definately fun!

I was on a clarinet course last year and 3 of us played a trio - but all on Ebs! Nice... We were even allowed to play it in the small concert at the end - went down ok for a load of squeaks!
You havea yellow ukelele! yay for you!

If you look closely I am the purchaser of the uke not the owner smiley - smiley. Who but a toddler could get away with owning a bright yellow ukulele smiley - biggrin. She is the very proud owner of it and took it into the next shop we visited and waved it around to show everyone. She now has at least 2 toy pianos, several drums, bells, mimi-cymbals, castanets, lots of shakers and the ukulele. She can keep a rythm going quite well and is reasonably tuneful when she sings - except when she sings Bob the Builder as she almost shouts that.

The Eisteddfod was a bit sad. We played pretty well - got 94 points but came 3rd out of 3. smiley - sadface

Our conductor didn't seem to worried on Tuesday. We were mainly concentrating on the music for our big concert on the 17th. It's combined with the local army band and is always fun and challenging. I hope I do better this time as when we played with at Christmas I was struggling to play in the right key. Not usually a problem. I was having a bad time.
