I'm not really here

Hi there, looks like we have some things in common. I like roleplaying, reading scifi and fantasy, and I have been getting into comics, but only a certain style of Manga. smiley - smiley

Thanks for the explanation! Sorry for not responding any earlier, but I'll never be here during the weekend (I only have internet-connection where I work for the moment, but that's supposed to change soon (?))...
Say, which specific manga-style do you mean? Not that I know a lot about manga (I only read Dragonball), but I've never noticed that there are different styles... I suppose you mean 'specific' scenario? Or are you really talking about the drawings?

About RPG's : I played about ten different things (AD'n'D, MERP, Star Wars, Tales from the Floating Vagabond, Shadowrun, Vampire, Mage, Warhammer, Eye of the Master, and only last night for the first time 'Feng Shui' : more about this last one in my 'journal'). But it's only ADnD that I played a lot. Also I have some friends that have been working on a totally new world and game system, but it's not finished. I have some ideas as well for a new world, but I don't find the time to work on it... What do you play?

all right, back to work! smiley - winkeye

I suppose I meant "adult" manga comics. I borrowed some from my boyfriend, and we all know what men are like. Filth, filth, filth. smiley - winkeye THey are the only ones I have read so far.

Funnily enough, a couple of my friends are working on their own RPG world. Well, they were. They've sort of ground to a halt now. Shame really.
Games I've played: Mekton Zeta, Changeling, Werewolf (and running it now, my first attempt. smiley - biggrin), Vampire, Cyber Generation, Mage, Feng Shui (I had an everyday hero, like Bruce Willis from Die Hard - but I think he's dead. smiley - sadface), Og, Tunnels and Trolls, Villians and Vigilanties, Champions, Deadlands, and possibly some more that I can't remember now. I don't role play as much as I used to, got more important things to do. smiley - smiley

... same here, more important things to do... Not always that much fun, though...smiley - sadface

I just posted a 'Journal Entry' on my first attempt to play Feng Shui! (last night) It was very funny! We all did some tricks you wouldn't want to do in real life (like : "well... I drink a glass of water, and in the mean time try to throw a chair to some villain with my foot!") We were testing it, so we really tried to see how far one can go in this RPG... I mean : Shadowrun is verrrrry deadly. If you don't watch out, your brains will be smacked up against the wall before you even saw the b*****d coming!smiley - monster

A lot of the RPG's you mention, I have neverrr heard of! Like Mekton Zeta, Og, Cyber Generation, Champions... I suppose they just don't sell these in Belgium...

Ah, that's the kind of manga you mean, huh? Well, there's lots of it, but I don't really read it. Not that I consider it filthy or anything, but it just didn't cross my path yet! smiley - winkeye There are also quite some 'erotic' european comics, you know... Like Milo Manara, or Druuna...

The first time we played Feng Shui it was very heroic, we ended up having a car chase down a mountain path in a 2CV. (Don't ask!) And we ended up going straight down the mountain, while the bad guys went round and round the hill. Just like in the movies. The second time we raided a house on stilts, and some idiot in our party blew the stilts up while 3 of us where in there. smiley - sadface So we don't know if we are dead or not, as the bloke hasn't run it again since. We're in the rubble. I expect we're dead by now, it's been months.

Hi Honey²! Sorry for barging into your conversation like this, but Feng Shui sounds great! smiley - smiley It'd be nice to try an RPG that's just totally silly for a change. Here are some of the ones I've tried (although, as Mina knows, not for a long old while):

Original D&D, AD&D, Rifts, Cyberpunk 2020 & Aliens mod kit, Dream Park, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Advanced Fighting Fantasy, Tales from the Floating Vagabond (which I only remembered after you mentioned it - extremely silly game! smiley - ok ), Albedo, Monster Horrorshow, etc etc...

Indeed, the Floating Vagabond is SUPER! My character was some kind of purple cartoon-wolf in two dimensions, you know : like the one from road runner. He had some special abilities, like being able to run REALLY fast, throwing huge black bombs, suffering no damage from heavy weights dropping on his head etc. BUT he was very vulnerable towards erasers...
Literally *everything* is possible in the Floating Vagabond!

...but indeed, Feng Shui is also very funny!

Ah, the one RPG I forgot to mention above, is Call of Cthullu (or however it is written)! My characters never survived more than ONE game!! Or maybe they did survive, but so hopelessly paranoid that they didn't even want to LOOK at other people any more...

And Mina, I didn't read the entry on RPG before, but I did now and it's very recognizable! We used to organise the Night of the Dragon : role playing for 12 hours with as much people as possible (mostly about 30). Literally liters and liters of coffee passed during such a night, and lots of junk food! One Night of the Dragon, there was a mother of one of the Masters who brought pancakes! It was like a hurricane : five minutes and all pancakes vanished...
Not very surprising!smiley - winkeye

I haven't played Call of Cthullu, but my mate just bought Pokethullu, which is a mix between that and Pokemon. So we shall see...

Did you ever argue about making the tea? Our refs sometimes put one of us into a coma just so the tea gets made. smiley - sadface

... no fights about tea making so far! Normally we make sure there's lots of coffee (in thermos flasks) or Coca Cola, this solves the problem before it even arises!

But I think that's a very cruel thing to do as a DM, it's an abuse of power! You should protest! smiley - smiley Obviously there's no way, as a player, you can make the DM make the tea for a change...

We have a rule that the ref never has to make the tea. Seems fair, as they often have to put work in outside the game. We try to keep away from coke, as it makes us all very argumentative. Coke's a bad thing. Too much stimulation for us nerdy role players. smiley - winkeye
We played last night, but luckily we had our caffeine junkie with us, so he made a few rounds of tea. smiley - smiley

Nerdy?? I suppose it's a joke... (?)

BTW I read the explanation of your nickname earlier today, and I must say : I thought about Bram Stoker's Dracula the very first time I read your nick. It's true!
I LOVE that movie, it's the ultimate love-story... "I have crossed oceans of time to find you..."

Yes, it was a joke. smiley - smiley Sorry.

I must admit, I don't think of Dracula as a love story particularly, nor the sequels, he was planning to go to England before he met Mina if I recall. To be honest, I think the book's a bit rubbish, I much prefer the sequels! Full of sex and passion smiley - winkeye Just like me.
