Hiya Rosmariini!!
I'm an ACE, which basically means I've volunteered for the 'official' job of meeting and greeting newcomers to the guide - a 'welcome mat' as someone said. I think they were being sarcastic when they did say it, but it's a fair description I guess. Except that not all of us are flat and hairy...
If you have any questions at all, then you can drop by my page (just click on my name) and ask, or go and ask all the ACEs at their homepage http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Aces and they will do their utmost best to help you. Cos we're friendly people.
And just in case it is a while before you get back and read this don't worry, I'm going to sit here eating endless s and s until you return, so there's no hurry, I'm very fond of s. Please do feel free to have one (or more) as well!
Hope you enjoy h2g2!

Hips Ming!
You have quite a short name compared to the other ACEs! It's nice and easy to find too! :D
Thanks for welcome! I feel much better now! Though I haven't figured out this place yet. It looks nice. I was wa(/o)ndering around the Net and since hhgg is the book that keeps me going, I ended up here. Right now I'm an expatriate and don't have any books with me. So the Net is my library and post office as well. And I'm totally happy about it Though I miss my hhgg a little
I do have a Q. If you please could tell me what should I do if I'd like to post something chatty like this? I'd expect that my personal space is the place, or is it? And what if I have something more matter-of-fact to tell where should I go then? Thanks!
Thanks for being an ACE!

Yeah, I know!! They've all got loads after their name, but I've always been just plain Ming, so I decided to be individual in a boring way, and absolutely refuse to put things after it...
What?! Awwwww... would it help if I started quoting bits of the Trilogy at you?
OK, basically you just do what you've just done to reply to me. You can put it on your page as well. If you have something specific to say about something, find out if there's an Entry about it and say it there, or create your own Entry about it... you could also see if there are any conversations going on about it... the search feature does it all! If you just want to be chatty, go and gatecrash someone else's conversation! Feel free to gatecrash any of mine. (but if it's just between two people they may not be too happy to see you... two-way conversations are often private)
I hope that's OK?

Hippo!
Thanks for your helpfulness! I really apprciate it
Can I make a deal with you? If I have a really loathsome day I can ask you to quote some funny part of the Trilogy at me and in return I will brighten up your day when you want by telling you some funny (true story) bits of my days with a six years old boy, in the style of Calvin and Hobbes His life is seriously funny at times, you know Yesterday he build a catapult bomb. It was made of wheelbarrow and pair of poles. He explained me lenghtly how it works. I must admit I didn't get it.
Sunny day!

"There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable."
"There is another theory which states that this has already happened."

Thanks!
That's really a true one, isn't it?!
You have read Calvin & Hobbes sometimes, haven't you? Well, you might think that no child ever is REALLY like that, but the boy I take care of is like Calvin's clone. He even has the same kind of scientific ideas as Calvin. He is sometimes a dinosaurus or has an energy field around him so that I can't touch him. He can run around the place like hurricane all day, playing fighting or something that sounds like it. Then in the evening suddenly he says that he hasn't done anything fysical that day so he "has to" exercise. And so he starts to run and jump again. At least I don't have to make him move...
Answering a question is not as easy as it might seem to an overly logical adult. He has to first choose which hand is yes and the other usually is no Then he taps his head with his index fingers and makes some kind of poem. And the hand which is the last to touch his head is the answer. If the answer is what he wants then he does not have to do it again....

Calvin & Hobbes? Never heard of them! I'm intrigued by it, I'm going to have to find it now... is there a series?

Hi!
I'm sorry it's been so long...
But I'm back now
Calvin&Hobbes are very popular (at least in Finland)
Bill Watterson has drawn them. But I've understood that he doesn't draw them anymore. So there is no more of their adventures coming
But if you want to know them, go to their home page [link removed]
there is one strip presented every day!
Yes please, quotes are always welcome
You know what? My boy goes around telling that they are going to move soon,
in August 2003
Well, I'll write again "soon" Perhaps before next month would be better

That's OK! So long as you do come back!
"You're thinking along the wrong lines," said Marvin, "You're failing to take into account something fairly basic in the relationship between men and robots."
"Er, I know," said the battle machine, "Is it..." it tailed off into thought again.
"Just think," urged Marvin, "they left me, an ordinary menial robot to stop you, a gigantic heavy-duty machine, whilst they ran off to save themselves. What do you think they would leave me with?"
"Oooh er," muttered the machine in alarm, "something pretty damn devastating I should expect."
"Expect!" said Marvin, "oh yes, expect. I'll tell you what they gave me to protect myself with shall I?"
"Yes, alright," said the battle machine, bracing itself.
"Nothing," said Marvin.
Ack! Damn moderators! I wanted that URL!
Oh well, I'll have to do a search, see if I can find them...
Don't forget about h2g2!

Hi!
Thanks for that quote! Marvin is so piteous that he's funny
Poor Marvin
Miikku is watching the Jungle Book and jumps around the room like a little Tarzan. It's funny that he can read a book for 2 hours but can't concentrate on his math home work more than 2 minutes. He is so used to have those easy enough for him to do in that time.
I'm sorry about the link. You'll find there just by adding the necessaries before and after calvinandhobbes.
Do you have nice weather? We do it's about 25'C and sunny
In 6 weeks I'm going home! And I make it before the Midsummer celebrations! I'm sooooo HAPPY
May the Sun shine for you! (Well, not if you live in drought area )

'He had half a mind just to keep on falling. Two fingers to the lot of them.
He was just passing the seventeenth floor now, where the marketing department hung out. Load of tosspots all arguing about what colour the Guide should be and exercising their infinitely infallible skills of being wise after the event. If any of them had chosen to look out of the window at that moment theywould have been startled by the sight of Ford Prefect dropping past them to his certain death and flicking V-signs at them.'
- Mostly Harmless
Yeah... poor Marvin. One of my favourite quotes is from Marvin - "Why stop now, just when I'm hating it?".
Maths homework is just not as interesting as a book. It really isn't... but I'm sure you know that!
It's not your fault, it's the moderators.
*flicks the same signal at the moderators that Ford did to the marketing department*
OK, I'll try that then.
Well... it's sunny at the moment. I don't know what it's likely to do, but I can't see any clouds.
Hey!! Cool!! Enjoy the celebrations when you get there then!!
*grin* Oh no, it's not a drought area. It's an area that has a lot of rain, but nevertheless gets hit by a hosepipe ban every summer - it's south-east Britain...

Time flyes
You know there's a show on Frech tv5 called Questions pour un Champion.
Yesterday Miiku asked: "Mom can we watch the Questions pour un Champignon also?" He knew well what he said
Here we have summer and sunny. How about you? Do you want me to send you some sun shine? Wait here it comes...
Yesterday was Independence Day of Georgia. I wouldn't have know if someone hadn't told me. Shops were open and people acted as usually.
Now I have a resume to write...
So I better get to it then. It's not easy to tell people who one is. Especially when one doesn't know what they want to hear.
Have a nice Day after Georgia's Independence Day - Day!

Hey, cool! He's developing a sense of humour!
So far this week it has been surprisingly nice; sunny, hot, calm. I think we're going to have a hosepipe ban later...
Georgia has it's own Independence day? Oh. Well, you learn something new every day, eh?!
Good luck with your resume!
