I've decided, 'corned beef'.

I used to be a right stick in the mud when it came to food, how times have changed, I seem to spend a lot of time in the kitchen cooking and it took my new girlfriend to introduce me to yet further unknown chilli dips and sauces which I now cant get enough of . I suppose the old adage that ones mans meat is another mans poison is as true only to the point when you find you like something previously considered “Yuk”
I've decided, 'corned beef'.

I've never heard of anyone not liking Branston pickle either. And not just "so-so" but really liking it. Takes all sorts, as you say.

cheese with branston indeed
Oh I do like sauces...
Currently I'm a bit low but in my fridge have:
Mustard.
Tomato ketchup.
Mayo.
Garlic mayo (made myself but using just bought mayo, and now I think of it, it may actually be the garlic and chilli version I have at the moment)...)
Hot indian pepper sauce.
Sweet chilli sauce.
Hot chilli sauce.
Jerk sauce.
Banston pickle of course.
hoi cin sauce (actually does this go off that has been in there for a long* while).
Brown sauce.
three or four differnt salad type dressings (which are actually rather fine to use as a bit of dressing on some rice dishes; especially spicey rice dishes...)
And at least two other types of chili sauce of various redicuslus levels of blow your headoffness
Which reminds me, I don't have any chilli oil at the moment
I've decided, 'corned beef'.

The only sauce I cannot tolerate is Heinz Salad Cream.......
I cannot stand the taste of it, and it gives me a migraine!!!

Bought salad dressings I don't like, although using them for something different as 2legs suggests might be interesting.
It's just another example of the ready-made things that you can buy being the simplest things to make yourself. Mashed potatoes, pancakes, these simple things are all available as just-add-water packets. What's the point of them?

It's the price that would keep me away. Why spend £2 or more for a plastic tray containing about one third of a potato, mashed?

The salad dressing I got is actually really rather good, and on special offer as it was, it'd ahve cost me seven or eight times as much to buy the ingrediants I don't have but would need in order to make it
I useually do make my own dressing though, just olive oil herbs and balsamic vinigar plus wahtever else I fancy in I make all my own chinese sauces now, It was my challange to myself at the start of this year, and I've got the chow main down to a t
The ready made stuff can often be useful for single people though cooking for one... but I can't imagine ever buying something so weird as ready prepared/made mashed potato
I've decided, 'corned beef'.

A place down the road from me specialises in little plastic trays of mashed potato, turnip, parsnip etc.
David Cameron visited it during the election campaign and hailed it as a marvellous example of entrepreneurial spirit providing a much-needed product.
Draw your own conclusions.

yes... 'much needed' in the same way as 'how on earth did we ever manage to eat bread, or cheese before they began selling them ready sliced'

>>> Draw your own conclusions.
Random conclusion generation:
David Cameron has the controlling interest in a little plastic trays manufacturing monopoly.
David Cameron still thinks the mashed potato is a cool dance move.
David Cameron owns a used little plastic trays disposal facility.

curry.... can't quite see it... corned beef pie though... I've a picture (if that is the right word), of how that might taste, in my head.... closed crust pastry or perhaps even a pork pie type pastry damn, off home to cambridge today and don't think there is any corned beef in the kitchen (though we did have corned beef sandwichs out on the patio in the sun a couple days back here...)
Key: Complain about this post
