I'm always glad to meet another fan. Have you been to the Shadowmarch website. I'm going to log in as soon as I finish with the vast backlog of books on my shelf.

I haven't made it as far as the Shadowmarch website. At the minute I'm trying to find the time to reread the Otherland series. I bought Sea of Silver Light back in June, and still haven't read it. I though it'd be best to try and read the others again first to remind myself of what happened, but I've only got to River of Blue Fire.

It goes 'Golden', 'Blue', 'Black', 'Silver' doesn't it? The ending to 'Black' is superb, isn't it. With 2 chapters to go, I thought he was going to either finish it off quick and leave a whole load of loose ends, or end up with a whole book of conclusion and wrapping up. As it was, the whole thing was up in the air.
That Dread is a nasty piece of work, isn't he? I started out thinking he was all right, but not by the end. Mentioning that he's killed oh-so-many people is not really effective when compared to him going through the whole act...

Yeah, that's the right order. I have to admit I was a bit unsure about them when I started the first one, but they just took a bit of getting into, like most of his stuff. It took me 3 attempts to get through Dragonbone Chair, but then I couldn't get the others quick enough.
I've had a flick through Silver Light, and it looks pretty good. I just hope it has a relatively happy ending (I'm a sucker for happy endings ) I'm planning to read Blue and Black over my Christmas break and start on Silver in the new year. I suppose I could read it without going over the others again, but I know I'll end up missing vital bits and having to go back anyway, so I might as well do it properly.
Dread didn't seem too bad at first, I agree, but he's really turned out nasty. I hope he comes to a bad end sooner rather than later.
Hooray for Tad Williams!

I don't think I am spoiling when I say that Dread does come to a very bad end, and almost all of the others come to a happy ending, although I'm not sure one would think of it as happy if I described it. I think one is expecting a bit too much to thimk that there will be a Disney, fairy-story ending. I mean, come on, this is Tad Williams we're talking about here!
