Don't be too disheartened Elektra! We are losing baobabs, but we're also getting new ones. There's a wonderful planting project here up north involving local communities. Baobabs are not hard to grow and actually can get quite big within a single human lifetime under optimal circumstances. I've grown several myself. And I always take a long view … over a few more thousands of years, we'll have new big, old ones, if we continue in a positive manner!

Great to hear that new ones are being planted by locals. They are impressive plants for sure. DG and I watched the movie 'Downsizing' with Matt Damon last night. I thought it would be a dumb comic movie but is truly artistic and important. I think you'd enjoy it.
