For me this is a day of just running around on hootoo to meet new people (although I should rather do some work).
I'm just reading the inrtoductions of several newbies who are online and sometimes, like now, I leave a message. Unfortunately until now nobody replied today... but I always don't get many replies anyhow.
Do you fancy a chat?

I've never yet managed to get a real time chat thingie to work for me but I'm happy to talk by messages.

Did you find the "My conversations" button already? (Meaning no offence, it's only that I needed some time to realize the it's there) Without it I whould be lost, especially in the evening, when hootoo gets busy and I have to jump through several conversations at the same time. But don't mind, I've also got some conversations where I only get replies every few days or even weeks.
Nice of you to reply! Many don't do that.

sorry.. don't get what you mean... the My Conversations? Do you mean that? That your conversations appear on your Personal Space? That's not what I mean.
there on the left <- is a button, somewhere at the rim of the page. It says "My Conversations". Press it and you get a small extra window telling immediately when someone writes you a message or replies to you.

Oh I see and that'll warn me even when I'm using the main window to browse another website?
Ooooohhhhh the wonders of modern technology!

Yes, so you always know what's going on... and it makes this nice "click" sound when a message comes in
Hi Brochfael!
Brochfael_Canwrtir Posted Jun 12, 2005
I didn't notice the click but I'm impressed.
It seems to be quite effective.

It is, I always make my windows smaller to see the red boxes appearing.....
There's another thing of that kind, the "Who's online" button. Press it and you see a list of all researchers who are online at the moment. I don't use it much anymore, for it makes the same "click" as the other window... a bit irritating, and it clicks much more often, for theree are researchers logging on and off all the time. But it's a nice way to visit a few Personas Spaces.

By the way,
I see you live in Vienna. I took my wife to the opera there a couple of years ago and took the opportunity to visit the Natual Historical museum.
It definately rates as one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited. I also found the people to be very pleasant and helpful.
I was blown away by the bronze age and iron age collections in the museum. The vast quantities of simple bronze torcs suggested to me that they may have formed a kind of currency?
I would love to return to Austria some day. Perhaps I'll have time to tour a bit as there are a coupel of places in Poland, Germany and Latvia I want to visit as well.

I don't live in Vienna, I only go to uni there, which means about an hour on the train to get there. I live in a village south of Vienna.
I see that I have to go to the Natural Historical Museum again, I'm much more often in the Arts Historical Museum and love the Egyptian collection.
I don't know whether they've got a currency.
What I always like in that museum is the big golden bowl on the staircase. Did you see that? I think most people just pass it. With that thing one of our Emperors (can't remember which one) tried to melt diamonds to get one big diamond... they burnt.
