It's a pleasant coincidence that you did this one today. Yesterday evening, I was doing some research that may result in another entry. It was about Irving Berlin. I got a large collection of old sheet music for Christmas. I'll end up chasing down the origin of all these obscure songs...

I found out that Berlin grew up in the same conditions as Bella Spewack, though he was a bit older. He never learned to read music, and could only play in the key of F-sharp. Why F-sharp? I yelped. Hint: black keys.... I need to do an entry on his piano. He had a transposing piano. Like an analogue keyboard.
