It's humour always and not insults!!!

Where I come from, the only people allowed to tell the jokes are the ones from that group. In Pittsburgh when I was growing up, all our Polish friends would tell Polish jokes - even when we begged them to stop!

Petros told me Ponti jokes. People from East Frisia (part of Germany) told East Frisian jokes, etc.

In fact, I had this one professor, great guy, very dry sense of humour, taught Old Norse, Viking stuff. At the end of the course he asked us to critique his class.

'Don't worry,' he said. 'You can't insult me. I'm Frisian!'

I died.

One of my many philosophies is:- I treat all insults as compliments! That way I get more

and it don't halve bug folkwhen they insult you and you accept itco's they've NO counter answqer

We are rich. In relatives. Sis and bro-in-law came by. Sis shortened my trousers for me and bro-in-law changed the smoke detectors. And we looked at her videos and photos.

They had to run back home to feed calves - they have two new baby ones that still have to be bottle-fed.

I'm STILL happy though

This is true.

After my sister left, we were on the porch - it's a beautiful sunny day, kind of cool, 67F. Neighbour girl came up and gave us a rolled-up plastic bag with a note. It's the list of non-perishable goods the Girl Scouts are collecting.

Good thing: we're going grocery shopping tomorrow and can pick up a few cans for the collection.

I miss the street I grew up in, a close knit oneeach looked out for each other etc, took washing in if raining and you were out shopping etc
Where I am now, apart from literally "next" door, I couldn't tell you who lives 2 doors away

Yeah. It's the difference between a street and a neighbourhood.

I've lived places where people didn't talk to each other. And other places where people were neighbourly. This in different countries and different states.

And THEN there was the apartment complex in North Carolina. Beautiful wooded area, deer at our back door. Pretty. But some of the people?

One time there was a copperhead (=poisonous snake) in one of the flower beds. This woman was walking around waving a GUN. Claiming she wanted to shoot the snake because it would bite her dog...we talked her down.

Snake turned out to be already dead.

I thought American's wrote/spelt it "neighborhood" no U ?

They do! I don't on h2g2 or in the Post because I don't want to confuse British readers. On Twitter I change spellings if I know where people come from - but then I also change fonts for German and Greek.

It's 'Mister Rogers' Neighborhood' when it's in Pittsburgh.
