Here, what you look like can be deceptive. We had a friend at uni - lovely girl. 100% Chinese ancestry, totally American, spoke no Chinese. Grew up in Washington, DC - all her friends and schoolmates were Black, so that's the way she talked.

Whenever she called a university office on the phone and made an appointment - 'Hi, I'm Reggie' - and then showed up, they'd always looked surprised.

She just laughed.

CSPAN is the nonprofit that covers our legislatures. Since the proceedings are usually extremely dull - as in 'like watching paint dry' - there's a standing joke that nationwide, about 3 people are watching at any given time.

You can watch them live on Twitter now, too. Warning: they will put you to sleep faster than a cold remedy will.

They're not like YOUR politicians, who yell like an infant school. Unless, of course, the Capitol is being invaded by yahoos with buffalo horns.
