Hiya dooooooooooooooood(ess)
Just read your thang and noticed (as I've noticed with a few of you lady types) that you are a Johnny "what a fine actor luvvie" Depp fan(atic). Well.........
.....and here's the crux (ooer)
...........have you (yes you) seen the film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas? Am a bit obsessssessesed with the film (well I like it alot anyways) mainly 'cos of aforementioned J Depp's performance in it - and Benicio del Torro is rather fab aswell.
So.......have u seen it - if no i'll leave you alone and let you return to J Depp naval-gazing
If yes - well . And did you like it fullstop.....I mean "."

Hi
No I haven't seen it (gasp!) I blame the lack of decent DVDs in the Southern Hemisphere I have been looking but I might have to resort to the net
Have you seen The Brave? I reckon that's his best movie - and he directed it too!

D'yer know what? Have never even heard of The Brave but have now Performance wise you MIGHT find Fear and Loathing...etc his best. One quote is that he "transcends simple mimicry" (Hunter S Thomson is the guy he's mimicking btw - he wrote the book the film is based on - if you knew that then sorry to patronise ). Un read the book if you're into reading of course
Didn't know he directed stuff - is that his 1st/only directed film?

Hi yamshark
I don't know about any other movies he has directed, sorry
The Brave is a really sad movie (he also wholly or partly wrote it too) He's a Native American (he is 1/4 Cherokee in case you didn't know) and I won't give away the ending but it was very sad. Not many people know about it. I accidently caught it on Oz TV in the middle of the night a year or two ago. You can't even get it on DVD or VHS here (NZ) or Australia.

>>s don't like seafood<< - whew can carry on swimming by then
I'll look out for The Brave (he doesn't expose his torso too much does he? )and you GOTTA watch Fear and Loathing....No sad ending - or happy come to think of it. The movie kinda comes to an end. And it's directed by the fab (in my opinion) Terry Gilliam (God I will have to shut up about that movie)
Is it hot down there then?

Hi yam
How are ya?
I'm really tired, didn't get up til 11 this morning tho!
Anyway, I like music that no one else (at least no one I know) likes which makes it a pain in the neck () to find a decent radio station or any of my bands in a CD store. Most of the bands I like are on my page but I like the Sneaker Pimps, Orbital, The Dust Brothers, Metallica, 808 State, Vitro, Slayer, Four Star Mary, Rasputina, Dashboard Prophets, Aimee Mann, Face to Face and some others.
Hobbies are mostly boring stuff like movies and TV and shopping and stuff, but my brother is coming over from Oz next month and he wants to do all the exciting NZ stuff like black water rafting and bunjee jumping so that'll be fun.
Hmm, movies. The last one I saw was H2G2, it was pretty good, but I didn't like what they did to Zaphod, they made him into a complete idiot. The one before that was Finding Neverland. I only saw that cos of J.D., I wouldn't normally bother with that sort of movie. I haven't seen any for a while cos there haven't been any decent ones on. I like action ones mostly. Don't like romance or stupid comedy or horror. I like superhero ones for some reason so looking forward to Batman. Plus can't wait for Pirates of Carabbean and Willy Wonka. I absolutely love the Gene Wilder one, and if anyone could do one as good it would be Johnny Depp.
I'm in Hamilton, easily the most boring place in New Zealand. You probably haven't heard of it, but even other NZers make fun of Hamilton.

*shudder* - *feels sick* . Have fun with that, just don't call me over for a bit of a play will ya (Watch out for the when you're rafting though )
Yeah, J Depp as Willy Wonka. Forgot about that. I also liked the Gene Wilder version and J Depp's probably gonna be good in this to. Have seen a picture of him as Wonka and he looks great.
Impressive list of band names there. Gonna have to look some of them up though . Four Star Mary, Rasputina, Dashboard Prophets I don't think I've heard of. Metallica have got a bit for me of late though.
I remember seeing Hamilton on a map once but I was concentrating on Tazmania at the time so wasn't really taking notice of New Zealand
Are u near places that they shot for Lord of the Rings? And speaking of books, you a books fan?

it's tasmania You're making me think of Tanzania. What were you doing there?
Hamilton is near Hobbiton, or where Hobbiton used to be anyway. Most of the amazing scenery was on the south island, but the hills and stuff of the Fellowship movie was on the north island. I haven't gone to see any yet though.
I love books but like my music, I don't like most stuff that everyone else likes. I like fantasy but 99% of the authors of fantasy I don't like. My favourite authors are Simon R. Green (check out Blue Moon Rising, the Hawk and Fisher books and Beyond the Blue Moon, in that order) Lynn Flewelling ( the Nightrunner series) Stephen King's Dark Tower series and Harry Potter (don't laugh). And Douglas Adams of course. I'm a freak for comics too. Dilbert, Garfield, Calvin and Hobbes, Footrot Flats, The Phantom, Asterix and especially Tintin.
How about you? What music/books/movies/hobbies etc do you like?

Hey, us brits like to spell stuff how we want for example: Ingerrland is how I spell my home
Who's laughing at Harry Potter *rushes behind settee biting lip hard*
I stopped reading stuff 2-3 years ago when I got depressed and lost interest in most things, but am slowly getting back on course with hobbies et al.
For instance: Like Stephen King immensely (sp?)(what did you think of the Talisman?). I also used to read a lot of fantasy novels (and am bugg***d if I can remember many of the authors names). Others would include John Wyndham, Terry Pratchett, Arthur C. Clarke (especially his early science-fiction) and I've read a few horror/supernatural novels but they do scare me 'cos I'm a wimp. I particularly enjoyed a guy called Graham Masterton and his horror stories. Oh and Clive Barker but not really James Herbert. DA is just great.
I'll look out for some of the ones you've mentioned - I usually buy from charity-type shops second-hand so will see if they're in there first.
In so far as films, well, mostly just science-fiction/fantasy because, apart from the odd fiction/fact one, I don't like switching on tv/paying money to see the world I'm living in projected in front of my eyes! (unless someone like J Depp is doing his thang )
Hobbies are boidie/nature-watchin' and playing my guitar and keyboard. Oh and talkin' to other types on this hootoo thingummy-jig. Not much intersets me at mo' 'cos my attention can wander very easily these days .
Jesus I've gone on a bit......I'll stop boring you and end....................................................................now

I'm glad you're not feeling depressed as much any more. I was pretty messed up in school, but I'm feeling better now too.
I can't remember the Talisman off hand but I've probably read it I've read all of his books I think. Was it the one he co-wrote? If it is I didn't like it as much. I prefer his own work. The Stand, Firestarter and The Dead Zone (terrible show BTW) are my favourites. Plus It I guess.
