Ascii Art Entry

Hello, Henry. I'm tugging on your sleeve here because I'm the sub for your ascii-art entry. smiley - smiley I think I'm pretty much done with it, (maybe once more with the ol' fine-tooth) but I wonder if you'd give it a look before I send it to the towers. It's new URL is here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A623639

As you probably will have guessed, that's the version of the entry that I've been editing, and which will appear on the front page. smiley - wow The original version is, of course, yours to keep forever, and nobody else can touch it. You know the drill.

I am asking you to look at it because of the rather delicate nature of all the preformatted text. You're more familiar with it than I am, and you could spot whether I've inadvertently messed up any of the art. (I hope not! I tried not to touch it.) If you'd drop by, and then reply here to let me know that everything's fine, then I'll send it right in for final review, queue sitting, and then - immortality!

Also, if there are any last minute changes or additions that you feel need to be made, now is the time to let me know.

Oh, BTW, I really enjoyed the entry. There was hardly any editing for me to do, and a lot of good art for me to learn about! Thanks. smiley - ok

Hmmm. When I get to a PC that formats the fixed width font properly then I'll be able to check, right now I'm on a Mac, using IE5, which thinks that it's monospace font is Courier New, but the art isn't showing up in that font. Odd. Gimme a day or 2 to find a computer on which the art works smiley - smiley

Ok, I've seen it with proper fixed width fonts. Its surprisingly difficult sometimes to get a webbrowser to show you the fonts properly - I had to force use of my default fonts instead of using the document specified ones (using Netscape on a unix machine), hope thats not a problem with h2g2 rather than a more widespread one.

Anyway, all looks ok, one thing I would change - where I've said:
Ok, got to a computer I can view it on, though wasnt easy. I had to change from document specified font to force use of my defaults (unix netscape). Hope thats not a problem with h2g2 as opposed to a general thing.

Anyway, all looks ok, though when I say about highlighting text just above the mona lisa, it should be changed to something along the lines of "depending on your browser, you may be able to drag a selection box over it to see it in inverse." On some systems it doesnt invert the shading.

Think thats about it smiley - smiley
