As you are the QotD expert can you confirm that Quotes from journals are not done? I have always suspected - and hoped - that this was so.

Quotes from journals have been used. Yesterday's quote was from a post by Galaxy Babe in one of Mrs Zen's journal threads.

Just wondering if a quote has been taken from the initial journal post. I think so. Ah, I'll go and look.

I've had a check and the quote of 12/12/2011 was taken from one of Malabarista's journal entries. It's a bit down the page of last year's archive - A87732813.

So it looks like quotes from journals are allowed. Sorry if that disappoints you.

No, it's just that most people assume that a link to a journal on the FP is rather intrusive, I think. Safer to keep to quotes from Ask. Of which there are surely enough, anyway!

Indeed there are. More Quotes come from Ask then anywhere else. There's loads of other public/shared places on hootoo as well, mind.

Equally, I've been popping along to people's ps's to congratulate them for a few months now, and no one has objected to being Quoted yet. I'm always slightly worried that someone will, though there's not much I could do about it if they did.

Well, it was in the thread asking for quotes, so that is uppermost in people's minds when on that thread. I'll try and find some in PR with a view to enticing people to dip in there more often.
