You're in good company; Joyce published a collection of "Pomes Penyeach"

My campaign is bearing fruit. Mr Chris has just written another good one.

I thought you were a bit hard on him, but all in the cause of po-try, eh?

Gee it's good to be back here
I've been gone for ... it seems like a year
Work devoured my days
I hope that this phase
Soon concedes to a time of good cheer.

I was just checking the sign-up thread for the Jan 8 meet-up in London. Did you get your ticket?

Ah yes -- found my way to the attendee list, there you are. I'm considering it, I would like to meet you and some others on the list -- I met Whoami? in June 03 and would like to see him again, an excellent young man. Gnomon seems to be organising things, I'll keep in touch with him.

Well, it looks like I'm going then! I haven't got a ticket yet, but I have looked up flights. I shall definitely get one now. Even if 2legs changes the date, which doesn't seem likely any more, you, Gnomon, Azara, Azahar and I will then be there, as we have flights to take. So we would all be together.

I shall just check with my family (in East Anglia) and my sister (in Reading) and coordinate something this evening and then get on and book.

The first time I went to a really big meet, I tried to organise a choir to perform, but interest was rather lacking and we didn't do it in the end. This would not be possible in a pub without amplification, and for a winter daytime meet I don't see any hope either. Never mind.

I met WhoamI? as well. He had a hat on, but we didn't speak for long. I was most impressed with Smiley Ben with whom I had previously exchanged a lot of e-mails in our joint capacity as subed.

He seems to have disappeared though. A lovely young man and very easy on the eye (as the ladies in the smiley - drool thread would say)

A broad called Ben, now known as B, is signed up as well; I'd like to exchange banter with her. Looks like we're on then.

I am all for sing-songs; an instant choir is a shaky undertaking but if someone has a guitar I know about 400 songs and can busk (moderately) in any key.

This summer I learnt "Try a little tenderness" which is a gem.

Aah - that's also in my favourite film (The Commitments).

Not really suitable for a pub sing song I would have thought?

However, I may include it in my collection of songs I am putting together for my birthday party. I'm inviting all the musicians I can think of for a multi-generation jam session. (My son is celebrating his 21st on the same day and they like to play for us as "your lot know all the words" smiley - biggrin

Did you learn to accompany it on the guitar? or did you do it with a choir or a group?

And would you like to come to my birthday party?

There's a picture of me and Ben together - link on my personal space.

Yes I do it on guitar; I sang it at a boozy wedding party and it went down fine; yes I've seen the picture of you & Ben (it's been there a while, right? I think I checked it for gender before writing one of my first limerick-thread entries "Yes Trillian did ahve a child"); thank you kindly for the birthday party invitation, but sadly I think I'll miss that one . . .

I have just booked. Now I'll have to figure out what to do when I get there, but the first hurdle has been conquered. Thanks to ryanair.
